For nearly 2,000 years, initiates traveled to Eleusis to drink the mysterious kykeon and participate in one of the ancient world’s most sacred ceremonies.

Then archaeologists found something remarkable: ergot—a fungus containing lysergic-acid alkaloids—in an ancient ceremonial vessel and in human dental calculus at a sanctuary associated with Demeter and Persephone.

Was ergot the missing ingredient behind the psychedelic sacrament of the Eleusinian Mysteries?

What if Jack and the Beanstalk was never really about magic beans? 🍄🌱

The beans = the sacred medicine.
The beanstalk = the journey upward—getting “higher” into another realm.
The giant = the guardian of hidden knowledge.
The golden egg = the sacred treasure waiting on the other side.

Jack trades the ordinary world for something mysterious, climbs between worlds, encounters a powerful guardian, and returns with something golden.

Maybe these old fairy tales are more than children’s stories.

🍄 Psil💥cybin may help the brain let go of old patterns.

A new 2026 study in rats found that psil💥cybin shifted how the brain learns from outcomes—strengthening learning from rewards while reducing the influence of unrewarded outcomes and existing biases.

The rats also became more exploratory when faced with uncertainty.

The researchers suggest this could help explain something many people describe about psychedelics: a temporary loosening of rigid patterns that creates more space for new information, new choices, and new ways of thinking.

Important: this was an animal study, so we can’t assume the same effects occur in humans—but it offers a fascinating potential mechanism to investigate.

What if the name Jesus carried another ancient meaning: “Jesus, the Drug Man”? 🍄

That’s the provocative idea explored by classicist Carl Ruck and discussed by Brian Muraresku in The Immortality Key.

Look at the clues:

Jesus was a healer.
He compared himself to a physician.
His enemies called him a “glutton and a drunkard.”
His first miracle involved wine.
His final meal centered around a sacred substance that followers were commanded to eat and drink.

And early Christianity used an extraordinary expression for the Eucharist:

Pharmakon of immortality.

The medicine of immortality.

Then there’s John Marco Allegro’s The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross, which proposed that an ancient mushroom sacrament was encoded within the origins of Christianity itself.

Add the ancient Mediterranean tradition of medicinal and psychoactive preparations, the mysterious kykeon of the Eleusinian Mysteries, and Christian artwork that some researchers interpret as containing mushroom imagery—and an extraordinary question emerges:

What if psychedelics aren’t something modern people are trying to insert into Christianity?

What if we’re rediscovering an ancient sacramental tradition that was there all along? 🍄

🍄 WHAT IF PSILOCYBIN COULD HELP PROTECT THE BODY DURING CHEMOTHERAPY?

A fascinating new study is opening another door in psychedelic medicine.

Researchers found that psilocybin helped prevent chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy in preclinical models — the nerve damage that can leave cancer patients with persistent pain, numbness and tingling in their hands and feet.

And this wasn’t simply about masking the pain.

The research suggests psilocybin may actually help protect sensory nerve endings, including by preserving the mitochondrial energy systems chemotherapy can disrupt.

Even more interesting: the protective effect was seen across repeated chemotherapy cycles in the experimental models, without measurably interfering with the chemotherapy’s anti-tumor effects. by @flowstatemicro

Did you know good ol’ Bill Shakespeare may have enjoyed a little “wacky tobaccy”? 🌿🎭

Researchers found traces of cannabis in 400-year-old smoking pipes excavated from Shakespeare’s own residence.

And then there’s this curious line from Sonnet 76:

“And keep invention in a noted weed.”

Coincidence? Clever Renaissance wordplay? Or was one of history’s greatest creative minds telling us something? 👀

Maybe psychoactive plants and human creativity have been intertwined for a lot longer than we’ve been taught.
