When the doctors said “no more heavy lifting,” he said “watch me.” 👀

In this throwback clip, Arthur shares how he chose to rebuild on his own terms - using progressive strength and flexibility to manage chronic pain and push past the limits placed on him.

If you need a little motivation today, this episode is for you (available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube - links in bio)

Throwback to one of the best conversations we've had on the podcast.

When Arthur sat down with us a few months ago, he shared the force behind his relentless drive.

Before he was born, his family lost a son. When you feel like every breath you take was passed down to you, taking a single day for granted simply isn’t an option.

That presence is felt in every single movement. Whether you dance bachata, kizomba, zouk, or salsa, this conversation goes far deeper than technique.

What’s the underlying fuel that keeps you going when things get heavy? Drop it below. 👇

Gatica breaks down something that’s been bothering a lot of social dancers: Jack and Jill competitions were built to test how well you adapt to a partner you’ve never danced with before. Somewhere along the way, that focus shifted. Now it’s about musicality, showmanship, and performing for the judges and the phones recording every move, instead of actually connecting with the person in front of you.

Disclaimer: this was recorded before the @bachatasocialworldcup and not a comment on this year’s @bachatagenevafestival 🫶

Your body comes before any unwritten rule. You paid for the flight, the hotel and the pass — you do not owe anyone a dance.

@by_gatica on why saying no, and even walking off mid-song, should be normal in bachata.

Season 2 of the Step by Step podcast is here, and we're kicking it off with Gatica! 🎙️ Our host @pattyruizdevilla and producer @javiotic visit her at home for an intimate conversation, surrounded by furry friends. 🐾

Gatica - one half of Bachata Influence alongside Melvin - takes us through her remarkable journey from the Norwegian Opera and Ballet, through salsa and tango, and finally into the bachata world where she found her voice.

We dive deep into the philosophy of storytelling and emotion in dance, the glamorous-yet-brutal reality of life as a touring social dancer, and the crucial conversation around boundaries, consent, and respect on the social dance floor.

“Words are spells — you literally spell them out.” Stop talking to yourself like that on the dance floor.

The judgment you feel at socials? It’s not coming from others. It’s coming from you. Eva Maria Bredler gets real about bad self-talk, why she has zero tolerance for it with her friends, and why the stories we tell ourselves are the most powerful force shaping our dance and our lives. Tough love included.

“Perfectionism is just fear dressed up as excellence” — and it’s blocking your dancing more than you realize.

We glamorize perfectionism like it’s a badge of honor. Eva Maria Bredler breaks down why it’s actually the biggest block standing between you and your best dance — and your best life. This reframe might change how you show up at your next social.

After 24 years of chasing perfection in ballet, one night at a tiny social in England changed everything. What if the secret to dancing (and living) better was learning to let go completely?

In this deeply moving conversation, former ballerina turned bachata dancer, @eva.bachata shares how 24 years of ballet trained her into perfectionism, conformity, and chronic self-judgment, and how discovering bachata rewired her relationship with her body, her art, and her life.

From the neuroscience of nervous system co-regulation to the spiritual experience of connection, Eva unpacks what it really means to dance (and live) from the inside out. We explore perfectionism, identity, creativity, the power of self-talk, and her beautiful new community projects like Inside Out and Bachata Sunrise in Barcelona.

Whether you’re a dancer who freezes when filmed or someone trapped in the pursuit of “good enough,” this episode is your permission slip to let go.

“The stronger that voice screams ‘don’t do it,’ the more you know you have to.”

We all know that paralyzing moment right before you hit post, step on stage, or walk out the door wearing something that feels like a risk. That voice telling you the world will end, that everyone will notice, that you are too much or not enough. But here is what our guest revealed: confidence is not something you feel first and then act on. It is something that follows after you take the leap.

Whether it is posting your first video, trying a bold new look, or stepping into a style of movement that terrifies you, the pattern is the same. The resistance is the signal. That visceral “I don’t want to do it” is your compass pointing directly toward growth. And when you finally do the thing, the world does not end. Nothing bad happens. You just become someone a little braver than you were five minutes ago.
