Without doubt the most underrated piece of cold water diving or surf kit.

3mm open cell Vest hood made with the best @yamamotowetsuits 39 limestone neoprene.

Best used as an under layer for extra warmth.

We loose a lot of heat from the large amount blood vessels on our heads so hood are a huge advantage.

We would strongly recommend for smaller girls that chill fast even in summer.

For now still have green open cells but the hoods we get made will grey closed cells to pair with our MESO 5/4.

Thanks @flowy_jade

After the classic July/August drop in sea temps I relented and bought myself one of @faderwetsuits open celled hooded vests.

Shamelessly spruiking these local wetties. This thing is so warm as an underlayer with any wettie and much easier to put on than the sleeved open cells. It's warmth is evidenced by @louiseforster11 photos of my smiley post-swim face, for which she stood in the cold to capture.

I've been spending more time on the sand and in the waves this year- joyously- so much so that I wrote a poem (I know right), I called it Waveful.

Waveful

The waves are my friends, they lap at my feet
Cajole me into a deep sense of peace
They rock me, pulsing into my body
A thudding, beating heart

Sun rays cast over bodies, illuminating beauty and the foamy tickle of waves broken
My mind awash in thought, holding tight to the shoreline on days I feel less bold

Able and willing, I plunge my body into the water.
Lick salty lips and take comfort in this new sensation
Of water holding, of the pausing between breath and wave, of tide slack with the weight of water

In water I wait, held still
Dissolving, over and over wrung out soul letting go of the everywhere rush

There is no other when than the filling of this cup, the deep drink of the ocean

How my human can experience so many emotions all at once continues to baffle me.
I am similtaneously invigorated by new strength and upcoming adventures this year, and dolorous in witnessing the loss that must accompany change.
I oscillate between deep contentment, and a sense of hollowness that freezes me where I stand- the two separated by a permeable thread, easily crossed by way of the most minute action, or subtlety of thought.
I ask: How can I move with both more ease and more difficultly at once?
I answer: The same way I always have, I guess. Through the most authentic expression of both states- And more pull ups.

I don't believe expressing insecurity, or grief, needs to come at the cost of joy. But lately my words and tears feel vaccuous, and without resolve.
I want to find the right way, the right medium to express this.
I feel a project on the horizon, something I can sink my teeth into for a while...
For now, I wrote another rambling love poem- still I am a fool for love, and ache as I let love go. It came to me after a rainy day with a friend at the beach, where I was flooded with the memory of the west coast of Ireland. It goes like this:

Selkie man
You wear a shark skin, and tuck a bright light within your chest,
Behind the face of a kind friend known only to the callous as a beast
Your hair spikes like tiny dorsal fins, shining beneath the wet sky- which hangs heavy like our thoughts in this existential dawn
You pad earth with your quick wide feet- shaped to support this great thing

I love you deeply, if only fleetingly
We hold silence between us still, an eeriness that folds me towards my feet
I find space between fretful lines, new tones in transit

There's clarity, and playfulness- sometimes bittersweet- but mostly there's a holding
Of a soft, beautiful feather
Dancing over my being as it floats toward the sky
Enticed, by the end of a rainbow by @faderwetsuits

@flowy_jade moving so gracefully on the rock while climbing at Mt Tibrogargan located in the Glass house Mountains, Sunshine coast. The approach to the wall is a bit long and is surrounded by the beautiful rain forests. There are various grades to choose from but most of them are difficult.

DM me if you need a Photographer for adventure races and events. Currently I am located in Sydney.

Throwback to Autumn @higher_ground_events
Where I experienced bliss in movement with friends.

☀️

One last expedition up here in QLD and I will be back in the embrace of Newcastle, for a moment.

I am eternally grateful for my body, which continues to support me in both work and play, despite long term illness and recurrent inflammation.
I can't help but romanticise the peace in routine: the sense of inner sanctum that comes from having time for the self, the safety contained within regular acts of self care.

It is incredibly hard to carve out that space as an Outdoor Educator. It is even harder to manage chronic illness.

I adore meeting beautiful people and places, but in this constant state of flux I often crave the security of regular self-practice. Sometimes I just want to press skip on all the travel, and give myself the opportunity to revel in the company of the people, places, and activities I have collected in the metaphysical space I claim as home.

It is a largely priveleged, and insignificant problem to have. Regardless, I wrestle with that disconnect when I am away on work adventures. I wrestle against what I know is right for my body, which has been screaming for support for more years than I would like. When I feel myself crying for that support now, I reassure myself this is temporary, knowing that I am creating time to look after my body in the coming months. I am so incredibly excited for that journey. by @faderwetsuits

A clumsy post-stomach-flu-flow with some nice moments. Sometimes I pick up a prop and flop, sometimes I tap into a flowstate, always I allow room for both, I'm here for it all. It just feels good to move for me again. by @faderwetsuits
