FADER began with a simple question:

Can we reduce a sharkโ€™s ability to visually identify a person in the water?

Built on 12 years of shark deterrent research and 30 years of shark diving experience, FADER was developed around the concept of disrupting visual recognition through camouflage-inspired wetsuit patterns. ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿฉถ๐Ÿ’š

Rather than attracting attention, FADER aims to help the wearer blend more naturally into their marine environment, reducing visual contrast and breaking up the human silhouette beneath the surface. ๐ŸŒŠ

This is the story of the research, the testing and the man behind the idea.

We also want to thank our Senior Research Officer, Rob Carraro, who is stepping away for personal and family reasons. His contribution has been instrumental in bringing FADER to where it is today and we wish him and his family all the best. We hope to see him back in the future.

The First True Fader wetsuit

Yes itโ€™s the end of the line for our flagship 2mm.

Itโ€™s was the first with our now signature ergonomic shoulders, tapered shoulder and flared waits. The design was so good once perfected it hasnโ€™t changed in 6 years.

Combined with highest flex limestone neoprene no wetsuit fitted girls like this apart from fragile triathlon or racing swimsuits.

It showed that functional swimming wetsuit didnโ€™t have to be ugly black.

Flatlock stitched for strength these suits lasted years. Some of the early ones are looking a bit shabby but still in use and loved. A few girls before we sold out got a replacement of theirs.

Only 1 size 8โ€™s new and just 1 size 8 used left.

But itโ€™s all right

An updated 2.5 mm green are here and we have more 3/2 blues on the way.

For a lot of us here this will still be our first.

Isnโ€™t it time wetsuits changed?

For 70 years black had been the only suits on offer.

But what if high contrast black was the worst possible colour to wear in the ocean?

Did you know shark vision is based around contrasts?

What if there was another choice ?

There is Fader PHANTOM

Features

Steel Grey print (Patented)that hits our camo targets
Limestone Neoprene thatโ€™s more flexible than what most big brands use
Thermal torso for warmth
Slick skin neck to prevent flushing
W gel seats on wrist and ankles
STF knees to grip and protection
Oversize YKK zip@
