fluent is excited to introduce the group of practitioners who shape the fourth edition of PRAXIS.

Since September 9th and for more than three months, 16 artists, poets, conveners, performers, writers, activists and thinkers live together as a community instigating debates on the theoretical and practical dimensions that constitute our material and immaterial lives.

Reading, cooking, studying, swimming, dancing and researching together, the programme questions existing structural dynamics to develop socially transformative prospects that could repair the social realm from reduced listening, re–articulating forms (aesthetic, social, ecological, subjective, spiritual and otherwise) as a methodology that nurtures structural transformations.

fluent is thrilled to announce 1 / X, high speed splash, a group exhibition celebrating our tenth anniversary, opening on Saturday, July 4th.

Taking the fountain as a motif centering this genre–based exhibition, 1 / X, high speed splash looks at orders of unpredictable transmission and how de–centralised forms of making and producing aesthetics, impact on our shared sociopolitical and structural realities.

At fluent and a series of locations across Santander, fountains appear as an haptic possibility for de–centralisation, a formless–formation, a subtle device of potentiality, redistribution, and force.

——

With/Con: Adjoa Armah, Jack O’Brien, Victor Ruiz Colomer, CAConrad, June Crespo, Lamin Fofana, Georgina Hill, Estéfana Roman Matesanz, Iris Touliatou & Paulino Viota.

🗯️📢 OPEN CALL 🗯️📢
We are excited to call for candidates from different fields of knowledge to apply to the fourth edition of PRAXIS, a study programme taking place from September 9th through December 13th, 2026.
This intensive in—person educational apparatus runs during 14 weeks (180 contact hours) and aims at instigating a theoretical and practice–based learning process that dives into the systems that constitute our material and immaterial lifes.

The programme is structured in four dimensions –or learning modules– I MODULE: VITAL DIMENSION; II MODULE: THE DIMENSION OF LANGUAGE AND IDENTITY; III MODULE: STRUCTURAL DIMENSION and IV MODULE: CORPOREAL & MOVING DIMENSION and is composed by a faculty of guest professors including Ghislaine Leung, Fred Moten & Stefano Harney, Anne Boyer, CAConrad, Archivo Lafuente, Yayo Herrero, Hypatia Vourloumis, Paulino Viota, The Theresa Hak Kyung Cha Reading Group, Seán Being, Andrea Rodrigo, Alejandro Alonso Díaz, Julia Morandeira, Pol Esteve Castelló, Tanja Widmann and Johannes Porsch and many others.

Those interested in taking part in PRAXIS must submit their applications no later than July 1st via e–mail to studies[at]fluentfluent.org including:

As part of the programme, fluent provides participants with free accommodation in town as well as four grants to selected candidates.

How can a transitory, moving community gathered in a small Atlantic city contribute to a shift in the social landscape within and beyond its direct context?

The image contained in Holding breath: a dying poem is this of an oxygen curve being exhaled from the mouth, taking the shape of a vertical concavity. As it evaporates into the atmosphere, the body’s warmth dissipates into a wider mass of air. We breathe and the self dilutes into the environment cyclically, just as the world enters in us, making space through circulation.

Holding breath: a dying poem (Epilogue) features works by Theresa Hak Kyung Cha, Séan Being and Reece Cox, and it continues until January 30th. You can visit Wednesdays through Fridays 10—1 and 5—8p.m.

After more than three months studying together, the third edition of PRAXIS has now come to an end, dislocating knowledge across multiple directions and territories where violences and hopes coexist.

When the state’s bureaucracy silences our anger; when the omnipresent machinery of death rumbles, we wonder how can the infrastructure of love —not as individual desire, but as political force— be strengthened?

Shaping a living sphere where the form/content, learning/living, theory/practice, nature/culture divides are dismantled, PRAXIS aims at rehearsing de—centralised imagination beyond this shared time and space; while re—channeling subjectivity, interdependence, and action.

—

The second third of PRAXIS resonates with Baghdad-born thinker Jalal Toufic’s affirmation, told in the aftermath of the Lebanese civil wars: “Past the surpassing disaster, tradition is inaccessible by traditional, ‘legitimate’ means.”

In our brutal time, Toufic’s words elucidate our ongoing attempts to further insight on how identity, location, and time inform what it means to imagine and affect the world today.
