@fluidfridaysopenmic never disappoints. Every single time I walk through those doors, I leave with something new—whether it’s a new perspective, a meaningful conversation, a powerful performance, or a reminder of who I am.

This space is more than an open mic. It’s a home for creatives, storytellers, poets, musicians, and anyone searching for genuine community. It’s where spoken word, spirituality, vulnerability, laughter, healing, and love all come together under one roof.

I’m grateful I was able to capture these moments and share a glimpse of the beautiful energy that filled the room. There’s something special about being surrounded by people who choose authenticity over perfection and connection over competition.

Cause CHILEEEE… 🤭 We need to talk about what just happened at @fluidfridaysopenmic !

So I pulled Kendra (@Kendra_f87 - tiktok) off to the side for a little post-performance chat, and she completely blew my mind. 🤯

In her poem, she mentioned a question her Godson asked her that literally stopped her in her tracks. At just 7 years old, this baby asked:

“Why is it that all things coming from Africa are in cages?” 🥺💔

Let that sink in. A seven-year-old thinking that deeply and critically! 🧠✨

Kendra took that heavy, profound question and spun it into the most beautiful, well-written, metaphorical masterpiece of a poem. The crowd was absolutely speechless! 🎤🔥
