Erica was all smiles with her first fish on a fly rod, which she landed in a deep hole on a custom fly pattern within 25 minutes of stepping into the river.

The spring hatches are really picking up out there. The blue-winged olive (BWO's) mayflies are becoming more prevalent on the water as the days get longer and warmer.

We have been experiencing stellar winter fishing conditions on all of the local rivers right now with this unseasonably warm weather we’ve been enjoying. @basaltfishingexpeditions #fishbasalt #flyfishbasalt #colorado #river #eldoble #rainbowtrout #europeannymphing #contactnymphing #tightlinenymphing #winterfishing #2for1 #fishpondusa #tieyourownflies #tieyourown #customtroutflies taken in Aspen, Colorado by @flyfishbasalt

Eleven-year-old William was patient, persistent, and attentive all afternoon, despite some tough autumn weather conditions including cold temperatures, gusty winds, and blowing rain. He was super stoked after landing his first trout on a fly! #takeakidfishing #fishingwithkids #getoutside #colorado #flyfishing #flyfish #flytier #flytie #rainbowtrout #catchandrelease #wildtrout #roaringforkriver #barblesshooks #freestonerivers taken in Woody Creek, Colorado by @flyfishbasalt

The river is in prime summer conditions, and the fishing very good right now. The fish are healthy and have been satiated by eating lots of these guys.
