After some time off waiting for my medical license to be processed, I had one requalification simulator to get back into the flying of things, then made up my EBT (Evidence-Based Training, which replaced the standard check rides) that I missed back in February.

After that, I had ten legs of LIFUS — line flying under supervision with a training captain — six of which I finished on this trip.

With every sector, I felt more and more comfortable and honestly, it sounds silly, but it really is like riding a bike. By the end of day two, it didn’t even feel like I had been gone for seven months.

I’ve said it A LOT, but I really mean it — I’m just incredibly happy and grateful to be back. After such a long time of waiting, wondering and missing flying, being back in that seat feels even more special than I thought it would 🥹✈️

January 26, 2026 … and at the time I did not know that it would be my last operating flight for a pretty long time … 😵‍💫

I was super excited to be flying in the new livery for the first time ✨ We were obviously right in the middle of winter ops ❄️ and I just had a pretty last minute flight change from four legs to two - heading to Algiers for the first time ☀️

A few days after that while I was off, I ended up having a small medical issue and losing my medical license until last week … all of this came incredibly unexpected and essentially forced me to focus on my health for a little while 🍀 I was fine after a few weeks, but EASA rules kept me out for three months and after that, the German aviation authority did their part to keep me waiting for my paperwork 🫢

Last week I then got the clearance to finally go back to work! Now I am just waiting to be scheduled for requalification training and am not sure yet when I will be doing what … but I am incredibly grateful and excited to be back to flying soon! 🤗

It has been a rollercoaster of emotions and feelings and in the very beginning, I was probably more scared about losing my license than my actual health; which is a crazy thought 💭 perhaps I’ll get more into the details of all of that at some point, but for now, I’m just happy to be back soon and also actually incredibly grateful for the time I have had to focus on me, spend lots of time with family and friends … all of whom have been supportive and helpful the whole time ❤️ taken in Frankfurt Airport by @flysanni

Gestern mit Freunden und Kollegen den Abend verbracht bei der 100 Jahre Feier 🥳 das Essen war richtig gut, das Entertainment auch top, und die ganzen Kleinigkeiten dazwischen sind bei allen gut angekommen ✨ Aber wer sich ausgedacht hat, dass man die toppings selber auf den Crêpe macht … 😂 kurzen Nutella Schock gehabt 🤭 taken in Frankfurt International Airport by @flysanni

Three days of flying over Christmas and it felt so good to be back at work after a little break thanks to vacation and a bit of illness 🙊 The days were long and busy, but the holiday spirit was definitely in the air ✨ and the views were a solid 12/10 — basically had me glued to the window 😂 Excited for many more busy flying days in 2026 ✈️

September was for sunsets, new cities & full hearts 🌅✨

Palermo, Frankfurt, Bilbao, Athens, Mallorca… just some of the destinations where I spent my month, plus a few sunsets, some Alps views, and a couple of selfies in between. Grateful to have seen new destinations this month — some through work, some through travels with friends. 💛

On top of all the flying and travel, September was extra special because I also had my graduation for my master’s degree — something I’m really proud of completing alongside flying full-time! 🎓✈️

September kept me on the move, and while I definitely miss being at home in Hamburg, spending time with friends I don’t get to see often is something I truly cherish. My cup feels very full from all those moments — even if it makes me miss having everyone close by once I’m home again. 🏡✨

Three hops, sunshine skies & a sweet overnight ☀️✈️

Today’s route: FRA → STR → FRA → MUC. The legs were super short, the weather was beautiful, and I even had time to enjoy my high-protein banana porridge snack (10/10, would recommend 🍌🥣).

The best part? An overnight in Munich meant I got to catch up with a friend — one of those little perks that makes this job even more special. 💛
