Had some time to reflect on my first attempt at @adcc_aus Trials, and I’m walking away proud of the experience.I got my hand raised in my opening match against an incredibly tough opponent before my run came to an end in the second round against a close teammate. While the result wasn’t exactly what I was chasing, competing at this level has only fuelled the fire to keep improving.A huge thank you to @jakeod_essencebjj for all the guidance and support throughout my preparation.To everyone at @essencebjjperth, thank you for the countless rounds, the tough training sessions, and for pushing me to be better every day. I wouldn’t have been ready to compete at this level without all of you.A special thank you to @adelefornarino for coaching me throughout the day to help me get through the tough matches. Winning gold in the Purple Middle weight division at @sjjif No-gi world pro tour in Tokyo against some tough opponents including against a 2x time world champion. Was a great opportunity to be able to come back to Japan 7 years later and compete once again. Congratulations to the rest of the @ammagymbjj who competed along side me as well, who ended up winning 3rd best overall team in the kids no gi division. Flow Fight Sports welcome its first sponsored athlete in Flynn May.We built this facility to contain everything a combat sports athlete would need under one roof.Based out of Essence Jiu Jitsu, Flynn becomes the first recipient of our athlete sponsorship. Already an up and coming star in the jiu jitsu space, Flynn also embodies the attitudes that we believe will represent Perth well in his journey. With some big international events on the calendar this year we are excited to make his preparation and recovery easier.Our athletes will have full access to our facility and the following- 24/7 gym access with full strength and conditioning fitout- Full recovery lab access (ice bath, hot tub, sauna, compression/ massage gear)- Weight cut facility (traditional sauna, hot tub, commission grade scales)- Mat space for extra training Georgia Otto the resident nutritionist is also a part of this sponsorship putting together a package fit for the highest level combat sports athlete. This will encompass full nutritional planning week to week, in and out of camp as well and guided weight cut support and post weigh-in fuelling.With another bunch of extras that we cant list here also included for Flynn's benefit. Came away with the win in my @whosnextgrappling debut in Brisbane after a hard fought match. Not quite the way I wanted to win, but injuries are part of the sport. Wishing a speedy recovery to my opponent @parfia . Excited to be back on the event soon.
