I could have lived a life without cancer,
But now I get to live the life I was meant to
for that, and so much more, I am forever grateful 💗

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding
In all your ways, acknowledge Him
and He will make your paths straight

Words fall short for my unsung hero 💗
I have put her through more than her fair share of having to save me from everything and anything 😰
Regardless of my flaws and shortcomings, she’s always there for me 💯 and my kids đŸ„č
I love you mom 💞

Lolo and Lola, grateful for you bringing my mom into this world and raising her to be a woman of faith.

Auntie Betty, grateful to you for being at my mom’s side to help raise us all these years.

I grew up in a family where cancer was present but was left unspoken.

When I became a mother, and later a cancer patient, I knew I wanted something different for my children.

Not because I had all the right words, but because I wanted them to hear the truth from me. To ask questions. To feel what they needed to feel. And to know that even in uncertainty, we could walk through it together.

I’m so grateful to Mirel Zaman for creating such a thoughtful space in @sheknows to share this part of my story. Not only as a patient living with metastatic breast cancer, but as a mother.

My hope is that another parent navigating cancer reads this and feels a little less alone.

September is here, and I’m excited to share something very close to my 💗

I’ll be the featured co-host for Tigerlily Foundation’s ANGEL EmpowHer Chat 🎀

Trusting God Through the Unknown:
Faith, Grief, and the Cancer Journey

Thursday, September 17, 2026
7:00–8:00 PM ET | 4:00–5:00 PM PT

Cancer can change so much; our bodies, our plans, our sense of certainty, and sometimes even the way we experience our faith.

This conversation is for the moments when faith doesn’t necessarily mean having all the answers. When there is grief alongside gratitude. Fear alongside hope. Questions alongside trust.

We’ll create space to reflect, be honest about what we’re carrying, and explore what it can look like to trust God through the parts of the journey we cannot see or understand.

I hope you’ll join us!

Happy 40th Birthday @carladbalauag Queen of Reinvention

One of the things I admire most about you is your courage to begin again. Time and time again, you’ve shown that our past doesn’t have to define our future. You’ve faced challenges that could have broken you, yet somehow you’ve always found a way to rebuild, reimagine, and reinvent.

Every version of you has been authentic, creative, resilient, and deeply rooted in faith. I truly believe God has used every chapter of your story to prepare you for what’s still to come.

I’m so grateful we got to celebrate this milestone together by the California coast
laughing, making memories, and reminding ourselves to make the most out of life.

Here’s to a new decade filled with even more purpose, joy, adventures, and dreams you haven’t even imagined yet. I have no doubt this will be your best chapter yet.

Happy Birthday, my friend. I can’t wait to see how God continues to write your story.

Love you alwaysđŸ’ŻđŸ„° #fortyandfabulous #friendshipforever #squadgoals #liveyourbestlife #whoyoudolifewithmatters taken in Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel by @fmalinis

Living with metastatic breast cancer has taught me that life isn’t measured by how productive a day looks. Sometimes simply making it through the day is enough.
But then there are days like this

Days when I can stand at the edge of the ocean, feel the waves kiss my feet, lift my face to the sky, and be overwhelmed by the beauty God still allows me to experience.
I’ve stopped comparing the hard days to the good days.
I’ve learned to be grateful for both.
The hard days remind me that God’s strength is enough when mine isn’t.‹The beautiful days remind me that joy still exists alongside suffering.
Both are gifts.‹Both are part of my story.
Because at the end of the day, no matter what the day looked like

I’m still here.
And for that, I will always give thanks.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 15:13

What remains steadfast: God’s faithfulness.

There are days when I don’t understand His plan. There are moments when the future feels uncertain. But my hope has never been in knowing what’s next
it has always been in knowing Who walks with me.

”‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
— Jeremiah 29:11

I don’t know exactly what tomorrow holds, but I know the One who does.

So I’ll keep choosing:
Gratitude over fear.
Faith over uncertainty.
Purpose over despair.

One treatment.
One day.
One step at a time.

Because God’s plan is greater than my understanding, and His faithfulness is not dependent on my circumstances.

Today marks 36 years since my dad passed away from cancer.

He was only 32 years old.

His mother died from cancer.
His grandmother died from cancer.

Three generations. Three lives cut short by this disease.

And now here I am—the fourth generation.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 39 and metastatic breast cancer at 42.

It’s impossible not to think about the family history that came before me and the path that led me here.

Today, I am living a reality that connects four generations of my family.

The difference is that today, we know so much more than previous generations did. We have access to genetic testing, advances in screening, and a greater understanding of inherited cancer risk.

Knowing your family medical history matters. Understanding your risk can help you and your healthcare team make informed decisions about screening, prevention, genetic testing, and treatment. These conversations aren’t always easy, but they are important.

Early detection saves lives. Knowledge saves lives.

Today, I remember my dad and the generations before him. And I share our family’s story in the hope that it encourages someone to ask questions, learn their family history, explore whether genetic testing is right for them, and advocate for their health.

Cancer may be part of my family’s story, but awareness, early detection, and informed decisions have the power to change the stories that come after us. #knowyourmedicalhistory #genetictesting #earlydetectionsaveslives #cancerawareness by @fmalinis

As I sat in my infusion chair for Cycle 2 of Enhertu, I chose to use that time to record a video explaining what the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act is and why it matters.

If you watch closely, you can actually see the moment the medication begins to affect me. But I keep going.

There are many things I cannot control while undergoing treatment.

I cannot control the side effects.
I cannot control the uncertainty.
I cannot control what metastatic breast cancer takes from me.

But I can control where I spend my time, energy, and effort.

And this is how I choose to spend it.

Today, I’m asking you to take just five minutes to help create change.

Please visit Susan G. Komen’s Action Center and click on the green “MBC Access to Care Act” action alert.

Five minutes of your time can help create change so that people living with metastatic breast cancer do not face unnecessary delays in accessing the benefits and health coverage they need when every moment counts. 💗

This advocacy summit was extra special because I got to share it with my mom.

For the first time, she was able to see firsthand what I do when I travel to Washington, D.C. and meet with legislators and their teams. She heard me share my story, explain the barriers breast cancer patients face, and advocate for policies that can improve access to care for others.

I’ve had a lot of opportunities to share my “why”
But this summit gave me the opportunity to honor my “how.”

My mom.

The woman who taught me resilience before I ever knew I would need it. The woman who showed me what strength, sacrifice, and unconditional love look like. The woman who has stood beside me through every diagnosis, every treatment, every setback, and every victory.

What made the closing ceremony so meaningful wasn’t being recognized as the 2026 New Voice Award recipient.

It was looking out into the audience and seeing my mom there.

Because while I may be the one sharing the story, she has always been a part of it.

Today marks Mariella’s last day of 5th grade, and my heart is overflowing with gratitude. 💜

To everyone at Bilbray Elementary School—thank you for creating an environment where Mariella was not only supported, but truly seen, valued, encouraged, and loved.

Over the years, we have watched her grow in so many ways: academically, socially, emotionally, and in confidence. None of that happens without people who genuinely care. From the teachers and aides, to administration, specialists, staff, and students
every interaction helped shape a school community that embraced her with patience, kindness, understanding, and acceptance.

As a parent, especially while navigating my own health challenges, the grace and compassion shown to our family meant more than words can fully express. Mariella’s needs and absences were never treated as a burden, but instead met with support and empathy. That kind of understanding changes lives.

Bilbray became more than just a school to us. It became a place where Mariella felt safe, welcomed, and empowered to grow into exactly who she is meant to be.

Thank you for loving our girl so well and for helping her shine. We will carry this chapter in our hearts foreverđŸ„°đŸ˜đŸ„° by @fmalinis
