Reality's been a bit... loud lately. And sometimes the only sane option is to escape.

So this week's principal update is a temporal loop. 🔄

One track for fast-forwarding to a vacation package a century from now. 🛸

And one for rewinding into a blurry montage of every summer you've ever had. 🌊

Because let's be real: You probably need BOTH.

===

1️⃣ “Future” by FM Attack 🚀

This is the exact soundtrack for a holiday in the year 2099.

Picture this: You’re printing your boarding pass for a sleeper ship. And you suddenly realise… You forgot your heavy-duty sunscreen. 🫣

(Twin suns will absolutely WRECK your skin on a galactic getaway. 🥵)

You’re packing a suitcase full of chrome mesh, ready to take a glass-bottom boat tour to watch bioluminescent space wildlife glide past your window. 🐋✨

But here's the thing that gets me. FM Attack built this to be futuristic, but he packed it with those nostalgic melodies that make your brain feel instantly safe. 🤌🏼

It's a song born out of PURE HOPE for tomorrow. Right when our tech-driven world is starting to feel a little too uncertain.

And it works.

===

2️⃣ “Pathway” by Nightflyer and MEGAS 🪐

Completely different direction. We’re spinning the dial ALL the way back.

This track is a literal montage of every summer holiday you’ve ever taken, all stitched together into one hazy core memory.

Some bits are totally fuzzy.
Some bits are perfectly clear.

But it’s all the sticky details you never forget:
👉🏼 The faint smell of saltwater on a warm breeze
👉🏼 The exact orange tint of a late-August sunset
👉🏼 The feeling of sand STILL stuck to your feet in the back of the car on the drive home 🌅

It doesn't care about a destination.... It just traps you in that loop of the past and refuses to let you go.

===

Go travel for a bit... You genuinely deserve it. 💃🕺🏻

Some nights nothing hits

That show you’ve just got into.
Your “I should read a book” idea.
The 14th scroll through the same 6 apps.

So you do what any reasonable person would do.

Headphones on. Volume up.
Or move to a cabin in the woods... we don't judge.

Today’s Principal Update is 3 tracks for exactly that mood. 🫳🎧

FM Attack & Betamaxx – "Remember"

Do you remember when the future still smelled like plastic from a cassette case?

Grape soda.
Microwaved snacks way past when you were meant to be asleep.
That one drink you only ever had at someone else’s house.

This track feels like sitting on the floor for no reason…

rewinding the same part
just to see if it hits the same way again.

(It doesn’t.
But you try anyway. Because apparently we enjoy pain.)

Do you remember? Do you... remember?

Minute Taker – "Surrender to the Night"

This one feels like a bad decision.

But the FUN... slightly reckless kind.

Driving too fast.
47 seconds away from
“Okay, this actually might’ve been a mistake”

…and still not slowing down.

Minute Taker woke up hungover on a Sunday and made this instead of watching Netflix. Respect.

He calls it “being drawn out into the night in search of excitement…”

which is a polite way of saying:

You weren’t planning to go out
and now it’s 2:14 am
and you’ve fully committed to whatever this night becomes

Neologisticism – "Photon"

This one like eating something warm at 3am

You’re standing in the kitchen, lights off except the one above the stove.
You weren’t even that hungry… but here you are anyway.

One bite. Then another.
And for some reason, this is the best thing you’ve eaten all day.

You’re not fixing or solving anything.
And for a minute… it’s quiet.

And honestly, that’s enough.

Three tracks. One for remembering. One for running. One for when you need the world to go quiet for a second.

If synthwave had a Mount Olympus… FM Attack would already have a statue. For nearly two decades, this Canadian producer has been not so quietly shaping the genre. Before synthwave even had a name, he was building a world of nostalgia, equal parts Alphaville and analogue grit. Their song “Magic” feels like a love letter beamed through a time machine... romantic, dreamy, and undeniably 80s.

The song “Sleepless Nights” is another one that hits just right—it’s got that spacey, cinematic vibe that makes you feel like you’re drifting through the stars. I actually had literal sleepless nights listening to it while playing Stellaris. It’s nostalgic, yeah, but also kind of epic, like the soundtrack to build a space empire to…

But what really sets him apart is his dedication to the craft. This isn’t someone dragging presets around—he’s sculpting sound like a mythic blacksmith forging a Mithril blade, layering tones with vintage gear like the Juno 106, Moog Voyager, and OBX8. His approach is full of intention and detail like the artisans of old… It’s why his music never feels stale or formulaic... it feels alive… or… Magic?

There’s a certain timelessness to FM Attack’s sound. Italo disco, synth pop, French touch, house—it’s all mixed together in a way that feels effortless. He’s got that rare ability to make you nostalgic for moments you’ve never lived.

And he’s not slowing down either! Right now, he’s cooking up an instrumental, soundtrack-style album with his favourite synths—and a collab project with Betamaxx. It’s the kind of stuff that reminds you why FM Attack is more than just a pioneer—he’s a legend still writing his myth… so get involved on the journey!
