Sometimes I gotta laugh so I don’t cry.
As a father, I show up and stay involved, yet I still get treated like a “part-time father.”

Summer break is supposed to be about making memories, not fighting over parenting time. The only person who loses the most isn’t the other parent, it’s my son. Every missed day is a missed opportunity for laughter, adventures, traditions, and moments that can never be replaced.

To the “dads” who choose not to fight for their rights—that’s your choice. But as for me, I’ll never stop fighting to be the father my son deserves. One day he’ll know I never gave up on him, no matter how difficult the road became.

I have to admit, I’ve gotten much better at handling the silence but I remember a time when glancing in my rearview mirror after a drop-off and seeing an empty car seat was one of my biggest depression triggers.

Co-parenting is hard enough. Add the extra layer of long-distance co-parenting, and the emotional weight can feel unbearable at times.

Overtime, I’ve learned the best way for me to navigate those feels are to give myself some grace on the first day and have schedule + plan for the rest of the week. While the ache doesn’t disappear you learn to carry it differently and continue to show up.

Fatherhood is a continuous lesson in becoming. Every lesson I teach my son has a way of teaching me too…

• Parenting him is reparenting me.
Every lesson I teach him is a reminder of what I needed to learn myself. In helping him grow, I’m healing parts of me too.

• “I’m sorry” is just as important as “I love you.”
Love builds connection, but accountability builds trust. Admitting when I’m wrong teaches him strength, not weakness.

• The tough questions come when you least expect them.
The deepest conversations rarely happen when you’re prepared. Fatherhood has taught me to be present, honest, and ready to listen.

• You’re their hero…only you can ruin that.
They see you through eyes full of admiration. Every choice, every action, every promise matters more than you realize.

• Controlling my emotions shows him how to do the same.
He learns more from what I model than what I say. My calm in difficult moments becomes his blueprint for handling life.

I may not get it right every time, but I’ll never stop learning, showing up, and doing my best for him. That’s the privilege of fatherhood. Happy Father’s Day 💪🏾💙

Found one of the coolest hidden experiences. Camp combined an immersive exhibit, slime station and arts and crafts inspired by some of the biggest kids shows. With 11 locations to choose from an easy yes for the family.
