Dreams Made Here ✨: Amy Parris ‘07 is the woman behind the “Stranger Things” wardrobe. She graduated from CSULB with a degree in fashion merchandising and design.

During the “Stranger Things” job interview, she brought vision boards of old family photos, kids at summer camp and vacation snapshots from the 1980s. The Duffer Brothers responded, and she got the job.

She oversaw some of the most iconic looks during the show’s last three seasons.

At CSULB, she learned about the mechanics of clothing — how garments are built, how they break down, how they behave under movement and time.

“Getting to do the job that I set out to do is absolutely the dream,” she said.

Today, Parris is one of the most in-demand costume designers in film and television.

Parris’ story is part of an ongoing series, Dreams Made Here ✨. Read the article at the link in our bio.

🌊 Happy World Oceans Day! ♻️

The Salvation Army was proud to partner with @seaworldsandiego and @csulongbeach on a stunning mural celebrating ocean conservation and sustainability. Created by talented Cal State University Long Beach students using repurposed textiles from The Salvation Army’s thrift stores, the mural showcases the power of creativity, collaboration, and environmental stewardship. More than 2000 hours went into designing and assembling this incredible piece of art.

Visitors also had the opportunity to donate clothing and household goods on site through our electric donation trucks, helping give items a second life while supporting programs that strengthen our community.

Together, we’re showing how sustainability can make a lasting impact on both our oceans and our neighborhoods. 🌎💙

World Ocean Day with @salvationarmythriftstoreuswest and @seaworldsandiego 🌊

Our CSULB students had the opportunity to collaborate with Sea World and Salvation Army in creating an 18 x 8 foot textile mural made entirely from recycled materials for World Ocean Day!

This is a reminder of the impacts that communities can make in making our oceans a better place for everyone!

Salvation Army is also hosting a clothing drive today, so bring your gently used clothing donations and help support sustainability in our community.
