"eternal spring"

I made this peace with the intention of creating a protective space around my culture connection.
Guatemala is known as "La Primavera Eterna" or
"Eternal Spring" in English. The hand in the middle is mine, representing my countries flag. The colors are in association to the spring, embodying the mixing of multiple ethnic backgrounds (Ladino (Indigenous & European mixed) and Afro-Caribbean) and the split between is the light and dark between the two worlds of being someone who did not grow up in the United States. Around the painting are displayed notes from a class i took last quarter on colonialism with themes of spirits, culture and mediums.
