Il corto scritto e diretto da Martin Horvat ha vinto come Miglior Cortometraggio al 28° Festival del cinema sloveno di Portorož, è stato proiettato al FeKK e Kino Otok - Isola Cinema, e avrà la sua premiere internazionale al Warsaw Film Festival, dal 9 al 18 ottobre.

Il nostro corto "Chi mangia solo" è stato proiettato al TCL Chinese Theatre nel blocco Family Drama della 22ª edizione dell'HollyShorts Film Festival (@hollyshorts)

Per il corto, questa è la terza tappa Oscar-qualifying della stagione, dopo Provincetown e Rhode Island.

Girato in Massachusetts con un cast americano, il corto affronta il lutto attraverso una ricetta di famiglia e due fratelli che si ritrovano dopo tanti anni.

"Chi mangia solo" è la dimostrazione che una co-produzione di successo con gli Stati Uniti è possibile quando l'italianità non è solo contorno ma vero e proprio materiale narrativo.

Chi Mangia Solo aprirà il programma serale di Sabato 8 agosto al @flickers.riiff. Il corto sarà proiettato all’Avon Cinema alle ore 19:30 locali.

Il festival è qualificante per gli Oscar, oltre ad aprire una porta per le nomination ai BAFTA e ai Canadian Screen Awards. Più di 90 titoli passati da questo festival sono poi arrivati a una nomination all’Oscar, di cui 15 trasformatesi in vittorie.

Questa è la seconda selezione statunitense per il nostro corto dopo Provincetown. Il percorso americano continua 🇺🇸

La sera prima di vendere la casa di famiglia, un fratello e una sorella, ormai lontani da anni, si ritrovano in cucina a preparare la ricetta preferita della madre.

Chi mangia solo, cortometraggio diretto da @francesco_zenati e prodotto dalla Video Artists, è in concorso ufficiale al Provincetown International Film Festival 2026 (@ptownfilm) che apre il percorso festivaliero del film.

Una storia che parte da un proverbio italiano e da esperienza vissuta, con due protagonisti tra i più riconoscibili del cinema indipendente americano: Victoria Pedretti (You, The Haunting of Hill House) nel ruolo di Inva e @philipettinger (First Reformed, The Devil All the Time) nel ruolo di Umberto.

An international screenwriting residency in Syracuse, Sicily, backed by the Italian Ministry of Culture, SIAE, Fondazione INDA, Siracusa Film Commission, and AIC.

When I first met the rest of the team, @kapustinskaite and @dagnevildziunaite, I shared a personal story: a few months earlier, I was having dinner with a friend who suddenly told me they’d just been diagnosed with cancer. I froze, completely unprepared for that conversation. Meanwhile, my friend cracked jokes about whether they’d even make it to our next dinner. That moment stuck with me and made me realize how we often shy away from the “ugly” parts of life.

So when this project came along, it felt like a perfect fit. Working on this series became an emotional training ground. I deliberately leaned into discomfort to better understand it. And it changed me. The next time I saw my friend, I was able to hold a real, honest conversation and even crack a few jokes of my own. All thanks to this series.

Once again, thank you Tatino Films for the incredible support and Karlovy Vary International Film Festival for giving us such an electrifying stage. And a shout-out to The Hollywood Reporter for helping our work resonate beyond the festival walls! ✨ taken in Karlory Vary by @fmusciaaa
