It's been a few years since we last raised monarchs with the kids, this time it seems like the hardest part of getting to the young ones before the predatory wasps do. We've had none survive at all on the plants outside, so we've taken to bringing them in as soon as they hatch. It's amazing how quickly they grow! by @fn.dave

Feeding eels is way more fun than feeding ducks!! Had some old eggs and a bit of left over ham, hard boiled the eggs and took them down to Mair Park. Counted fifteen eels, ranging from about 20cm to over a metre. So cool given its only a few minutes from the CBD!

Rest easy Toby dog, you packed a whole lot of fun and love into your 15.5 years. The goodest of good boys ever, even when you weren't. Our house feels so empty now, you were like a shadow who'd just quietly follow us around keeping an eye on things, always there waiting when we arrived home. There's been a lot of water under the bridge since that fateful day when, only a couple of weeks after buying our first house, we went to Swanson telling ourselves that we we're just going to have a look at the last puppy of the litter, knowing only too well that there was no chance we weren't bringing him home. It's the end of a chapter for us as dog owners, it would be impossible to replace you anyway. by @fn.dave

Found these pics of my old EG6 Civic while looking for something completely unrelated on an old hard drive. I forgot that it ever looked that good, in hindsight I should have parked it in the garage at that point and kept it for ever. Can't remember who took the photos, someone from NZHondas... by @fn.dave

I didn’t notice until the post ride coffee kicked in, but today was my first ride since having birthday covid a couple of months ago, which means it was also my 30th anniversary ride! For my 13th birthday I got a 1994 Marin Palisades Trail and joined what was then called the Parahaki Mountain Bike Club. My first ride was up and over Mt Parihaka and was basically road, gravel road and a little bit of walking track. Thirty years later I live just down the road from what is now the Parihaka Mountain Bike Park, and thanks to @whangareimtbclub there’s now a lot more than just gravel road to ride up there!! I also just noticed my current bike is a very similar shade of purple to that first Marin, the circle is complete... 😂 by @fn.dave
