đŸŒ± Plant the Future. Regenerate our Oceans. 🌊

Inside the @focities HQ at our Climate + Innovation Hub in Little Haiti @thehubmia , underwater worlds and terrestrial landscapes collide.

@plantthefuture transforms our naturally lit and open-air coworking office space with hanging gardens, bringing biophilic design to life while @thereefline Miami Reef Star prototypes, by artists @carlosbetancourtartist & @albertolatorrearchitecture , take shape in the yard — to @coralcitycamera capturing life below the surface in real time at our entrance every day — there’s always something new to discover.

Above the water, solar power keeps this building humming with light. It’s proof that adaptive reuse isn’t just sustainable — it’s soulful. A structure growing into its next life, just like the city around it.

We’re excited for what’s coming this fall.

Curious about membership? Want to join the ecosystem and work from Future of Cities HQ in Little Haiti? Schedule a tour — link in bio. 🌮

Some people don’t just design buildings. They change the way we think about the world.

Today, we celebrate the birthday of R. Buckminster Fuller, whose work challenged architects, designers, and thinkers to see our planet as an interconnected system rather than a collection of isolated parts. From the geodesic dome to his philosophy of “doing more with less,” Fuller believed that design could solve humanity’s greatest challenges without exhausting the Earth’s resources.

His ideas continue to shape conversations around regenerative design, systems thinking, and the responsibility we share as stewards of our built and natural environments.

Happy Birthday, Buckminster Fuller. Your vision continues to inspire generations to imagine a future where innovation serves both people and the planet.

Join @charles_eisenstein at the Generation Regeneration Online Summit. Live now!

The stories we tell shape the world we build.

For years, Charles Eisenstein has challenged conventional thinking about economics, culture, and our relationship with one another and the living world.

His work invites us to see regeneration not simply as an environmental goal, but as a shift in how we understand connection, community, and place.

As a speaker at the Generation Regeneration Online Global Summit, presented by Future of Cities and hosted by @_tonycho_ , Charles joins a growing dialogue on how changing our worldview may be one of the most powerful tools for creating regenerative futures.

Live now! Day 3: Generation Regeneration Online Global Summit

Strength isn’t measured by force. It’s revealed through presence.

Through the philosophy of @thezensamurai, Sensei Zen Takai explores the intersection of discipline, mindfulness, and purposeful leadership. His work reminds us that resilience is cultivated from within, and that the way we show up each day shapes the communities and cultures we help create.

As a speaker at the Generation Regeneration Online Global Summit presented by @focities , hosted by @_tonycho_, Sensei Zen Takai brings a perspective that bridges ancient wisdom with the challenges of modern life, inviting us to lead with greater clarity, intention, and compassion.

The future isn’t something we inherit. It’s something we co-design.

For too long, cities have been built to extract from people, communities, and the natural world. The next generation of cities must do something different. They must restore, reconnect, and give back more than they take.

That conversation begins TODAY!

The Generation Regeneration Online Global Summit, presented by @focities and hosted by @_tonycho_, is now live, bringing together architects, doctors, urbanists, scientists, impact entrepreneurs, and changemakers from around the world to explore how regenerative placemaking can shape healthier cities and stronger communities.

Whether you’re passionate about design, sustainability, wellness, or the health of our futures and how that relates to the built environment, this is your invitation to join the movement today.

Movement shapes the way we experience a city.

Proposed for Los Angeles, California, PINKWAY PARK by @bertankotil reimagines cycling infrastructure as public space, transforming an elevated loop into a landscape where mobility, recreation, and ecology coexist. Rather than treating transportation as something separate from everyday life, the concept imagines movement itself as an opportunity to create places for connection, nature, and community.

As cities around the world rethink car-centric development, proposals like this challenge us to see infrastructure differently. What if the spaces designed for movement also became spaces for belonging? What if mobility could strengthen both public life and the urban landscape?

Every transformation begins with a shift in perspective.

For years, @vishen has exploren how expanding the way we think can reshape the way we live, work, and relate to one another.

Through @mindvalley, he has helped build a global conversation around human potential, conscious leadership, and the power of questioning assumptions.

At the Generation Regeneration Online Global Summit, presented by @focities and hosted by @tonycho, Vishen brings that perspective into a broader dialogue on regenerative futures.

Because the cities we inhabit are ultimately reflections of the ideas, values, and beliefs that shape them.

The health of a city can often be measured by the life it supports.

In Shimabara, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, crystal-clear waterways flow through the city, creating an environment where koi and other fish thrive alongside daily urban life. What was once designed simply to manage water has become a living ecosystem, demonstrating that infrastructure can serve both people and nature.

When cities invest in clean water, ecological stewardship, and long-term thinking, biodiversity has a remarkable ability to return. Sometimes the strongest indicator of a healthy city isn’t its skyline, but the life moving quietly through its streets. by @focities

Every city is ultimately a collection of systems: food systems, water systems, health systems, cultural systems, and the invisible infrastructures that shape daily life.

@mikiagrawal has built her career around challenging those systems, proving that innovation often begins by questioning assumptions we’ve accepted for generations.

Through impact entrepreneurship, design, and bold thinking, she continues to explore how healthier communities can emerge from reimagining the everyday.

On July 12, Miki joins the Generation Regeneration Online Global Summit, presented by Future of Cities @focities and hosted by @_tonycho_, where she’ll share how community-driven & multi-generational innovation can help create more equitable, resilient, and regenerative futures.

Every ecosystem teaches the same lesson: resilience comes from relationships, not isolation.

Our cities can learn from that. By moving beyond extractive models of development, we can begin co-designing places that restore ecological health, strengthen communities, and generate long-term value for future generations. This requires a collective and cultural shift.

That’s the practice of regenerative placemaking.

As the Generation Regeneration Global Summit comes to a close, we hope these conversations continue far beyond the event itself. Because regeneration isn’t a destination. It’s an ongoing practice, one we build together through the places we create and the communities we cultivate.

Cities thrive when architecture responds to both people and the planet.

Trudo Vertical Forest, designed by @stefanoboeriarchitetti, brings the Vertical Forest model to social housing for the first time. Located in Eindhoven’s Strijp-S district, on the site of the former Philips complex, the 19-story tower houses 125 affordable units for young professionals and students, each paired with a private terrace, one tree, and twenty shrubs.

The tower shows how ecological design and affordable housing can grow together, redefining what social housing can look like in contemporary cities.

More than a housing project, Trudo hopes to prove that living surrounded by nature isn’t a luxury reserved for a few. Across its four façades, the building hosts more than 135 trees and roughly 8.500 plants in total, helping absorb CO2, filter fine dust, and cool the surrounding urban environment, all while keeping rents accessible.

Live now: On line Generation Regeneration Summit

Some of the most memorable places are the ones that exist for only a moment.

At Burning Man, art becomes more than an object to observe. It becomes a place to gather, reflect, and connect. Installations like this one by Mamou Mani demonstrate how temporary architecture can transform open space into a shared experience, inviting thousands of strangers to participate in something larger than themselves.

Whether permanent or ephemeral, great public spaces are defined by the relationships they inspire. They remind us that architecture isn’t only about what we build, but about the communities that emerge around it and gather within it.
