Connecting the community of Forsyth County, Georgia with exceptional resources, spaces, and experiences.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

What an incredible day of reading together as a community to celebrate literacy and honor America’s 250th anniversary! 📖

On September 21, FCPL welcomed Super Bowl champion Malcolm Mitchell to the Cumming Library for a special storytime commemorating our statewide win in the Georgia Reads for America250 Reading Challenge. Nearly 200 readers gathered to read with Malcolm—including the entire second-grade class from Cumming Elementary. Every participant received a copy of his bestselling children’s book, “Hey, Georgia”, before he captivated the room with his inspiring words and vibrant storytelling. Afterward, he stayed to meet with readers and sign their books!

A huge thank you to Malcolm Mitchell, the Georgia Council on Literacy, the Georgia Municipal Association, and Georgia Public Library Service for helping to make this event possible.

We are also grateful to our community partners who took the time to join us for such an exciting occasion: the Governor’s Office of Education and Workforce Strategy, the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, the Sandra Dunagan Deal Center for Early Language and Literacy, the Share the Magic Foundation, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, leaders from Forsyth County Schools, State Librarian Angela Stanley, and the FCPL Board of Trustees. by @focolibrary

Rewind with us! 📹

The early 2000s gave us midnight book releases, flip phones, dial-up internet—and major milestones for FCPL!

In November 2000, we officially doubled in size by opening our second branch: the Sharon Forks Library. While patrons waited for the new doors to open, we launched an “Online Branch,” which was really just our very first website!

It is incredible to see how much FCPL has grown since the new millennium. What was once a two-branch system has since expanded into six branches including our Bookmobile.

While we may have traded floppy disks for modern technology, our dedication to building community and providing resources remains the same. Thank you for being such an important part of our story through every era! by @focolibrary

Learning new leadership tools, setting goals, and tackling critical issues were all on the agenda at FCPL’s recent Supervisor Training Day. But perhaps the most debated topic of conversation? The universal question of toilet paper orientation! Here’s where our library leaders stand on this divisive topic. Are you #TeamOver or #TeamUnder? Let us know!

Nothing boosts morale quite like a visit from the Humane Hearts Pet Therapy Program! 🐶

During Staff Training Day, our staff got a firsthand look at the benefits of pet therapy—complete with plenty of snuggles from amazing therapy dogs!

The Humane Hearts Pet Therapy Program serves Forsyth County and surrounding areas through visits to local schools, assisted living facilities, and FCPL! They make regular visits to every branch through our Paws to Read program, giving readers a safe, judgment-free space to practice their skills and build confidence.

Thank you to these wonderful volunteers for brightening our day and being such amazing partners!
