I specifically drew this Gachiakuta graffiti mainly because of the recent promotional graffiti by @gachiakuta_pr in Hong Kong.

Since I know the artist involved, my first reaction at the time was to admire the work and feel happy for him. But then it hit me —‼️why is something labeled as “Hong Kong graffiti” not done by a Hong Kong artist, but by someone flown in from elsewhere?‼️

That’s why I painted this Gachiakuta graffiti — to tell the people of Hong Kong, the team at @medialinkhk who invited the artist, and everyone who sees this post:

Hong Kong has many artists who are more than capable. I’m just a relatively new graffiti artist — there are countless others here who are better than me.
Don’t underestimate Hong Kong.

First time going all-in with spray paint and somehow I ended up painting a whole rolling shutter.
Still a total newbie, but it felt so good to finish my first full piece with sprays.
Meanwhile @focus_la_diu was absolutely killing it with his Mimic.

Big thanks to all of you for guiding me along the way and great vibes from everyone painting at the spot @who_writes_peck @malic @callmevandam
