Candidate for Carroll County Commissioner in District 5. By authority: Citizens for Megan Foelber, Jessica Wilson, Treasurer
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I’m Megan Foelber and I’m running for Carroll County Commissioner in District 5. I’m a seasoned public servant whose federal organization was unnecessarily reduced through DOGE cuts, a former teacher, a mom, and a community member who is invested in the success of our county. I’m running for this position because I truly feel that Carroll County is a great place to live, but I want to use this foundation for us to build a Carroll where all can learn, live, and thrive.

I won’t be able to do this without your support. Please share my message and visit my website at in my bio to learn more, donate, volunteer, and find out how to vote for me in 2026! by @foelberforcarroll

It was a beautiful morning to join in the Annual Mental Health Day 5K and 1 Mile Fun Walk at Springfield Hospital Center to benefit the SHC Auxiliary! We opted for the walk, but the sun warmed us quickly! taken in Springfield Hospital Center by @foelberforcarroll

I laughed early in the campaign when someone said we should put up a billboard, yet here we are.

It's no secret that this county has an established political machine, and running as an outsider against someone who has long been part of it comes with its own challenges.

We have had so much quiet support, but getting places to put larger signs has been a struggle. I get frequent questions on why I don't have more big signs, and it's because people do not want to rock the boat. They are afraid of repercussions. They don't feel safe putting up a sign or making it known that we've talked. And I get it, we own a business, and we've felt the same in the past.

We can't change things if people are afraid to even speak up or speak out, and the more I talk to people, the more I believe we need fresh voices. There is a definite club, and a majority of us are not a part of it.

There's been other community support that has been strong aside from signs. We've had overwhelming fundraising support from both family and friends, and from the community at large. I appreciate each and every person who has stepped up to help us turn this race. These funds were enough for us to put up a billboard, and to send out a few rounds of mailers (even the recent one with a spelling error that our several eyes of proofreading missed! Apologies for the oversight.)

A billboard puts no one in a difficult situation. Just letting people know that if you turn out to vote, and vote the whole ballot, we can elect new voices this year so that everyone feels free to speak up. by @foelberforcarroll

So much going this weekend that I couldn't make everything, but we made it to celebrate the Liberty High School homecoming parade and game on Friday, and a quick stop at the Sykesville Fall Festival today!

Wishing a safe homecoming to all schools celebrating this weekend, including both Liberty and Century! by @foelberforcarroll

This week I attended the Light the Night event held by the CARE Healing Center - formerly RCIS of Carroll County to support the healing of those in our community who have experienced sexual violence.

The lighting of the 250 luminaries, one for every person served by CARE Healing Center over the last year, was a powerful visual reminder of the scope of impact of this violence here in our community, but also of the many who are there to support those impacted as they move forward.

I recognize the bravery of those who shared their words and experiences, opening the door for healing for themselves and others, and to the Center for their work serving people at their most vulnerable everyday. taken in Wakefield Valley Trail by @foelberforcarroll

Carroll County is a great place for small businesses. As a candidate, I believe our approach to economic development should start with understanding what is already working.

We have many of the conditions that make for a healthy environment for innovation, including reasonable commercial rents, low vacancy rates, thriving downtown areas like Sykesville, and locally owned businesses along corridors like we see on Liberty Road. Our location in close proximity to two metropolitan areas gives us a unique advantage, as well.

Those conditions give people the ability to take a risk, test an idea, start something of their own, and grow it within their own community. That’s worth protecting, and I know these conditions well. It is what allowed my family to take a risk on building something of our own.

Overwhelmingly, I know of so many other entrepreneurs in the community that both live and work here, and they are invested in so many other ways. They are involved in the community or schools, and they are invested in building an environment of resiliency. I’ve made a point throughout my campaign to seek out local vendors for campaign needs because keeping business local only continues to support our county.

As a candidate, I want us to be thoughtful about changes that could disrupt our small business environment while remaining open to new ideas and initiatives that can strengthen our commercial areas.

I believe our focus should be on protecting the conditions that encourage innovation, supporting the businesses that have already invested here, while continuing to create opportunities for the next generation of local entrepreneurs.
That’s how we build an economy that is locally rooted, resilient, and ready for the future.

Help us reach neighbors! We are continuing to door knock, but I understand that may be beyond the comfort level of some.
Starting this weekend, we will deploy volunteers to just walk neighborhoods to simply leave literature. No talking required.

Sign up at the same link at https://www.mobilize.us/dashboard/mddems/event/993619/ to participate in either activity!

And if you want an area to walk later in the week at your own pace, we can certainly set you up. Let's turn out the vote this year! by @foelberforcarroll

We are 1 month from election day, and we are planning on how we get out the vote this fall. Door knocking will continue, but for those interested in participating but not talking to people, we will be adding in lit drops through the election. And while we have scheduled times for both of these, they also can be completed on your own time.

Sign up with general interest in these and other opportunities at https://forms.gle/udUWo5nCbzcX94Yk6

If you want to join us for door knocking or lit dropping directly, you can sign up at https://www.mobilize.us/mddems/event/993619/ by @foelberforcarroll

Wednesday night was full of community joy. I was happy to join my friends from the @carrollcountydiaperbank for the @we.are.carrolll awards put on the Community Foundation of Carroll County.

The diaper bank was there to recognize long term, faithful supporters in addressing diaper need in Carroll County, but there were so many other great organizations and individuals recognized who serve our county through the Community Foundation and cover a spectrum of needs. It's always humbling to step back and see the needs and how they are being filled by members of our own community, as well as places where our community is reaching others across the country.

The experience with the diaper bank was transformative for me. I'm incredibly proud of the work we did there, and what has continued. It was important to me when my children were younger to find ways to meaningfully support other families, but I came away from the experience changed in how I approach public policy that can make or break someone falling into or digging out of poverty. It helped me to better understand our county, the needs of residents, the patterns and trends that emerge, and the importance of voices speaking for these issues in local governments.

It's a piece of what drove me to run for office, to be a voice for policies that lift people up, whether it is housing policies, healthy schools, libraries, reliable utilities, sensible and practical ways to get around, and local jobs with fair pay, local governments have a massive impact on these issues.

There are many issues that face us as a community, but we can be voices for policies that can continue to lift up and improve lives in our district and across the county. by @foelberforcarroll
