I'm not great with words...

When I was younger, I once thought that I could be a writer. As I've grown, studied, learned, and lived, I have found it harder and harder to put those experiences into words in any sort of meaningful way.

I'm sitting here now doing some of the more "big picture" conceptual work with my trio's newest recording (soft launch of the album art on my computer??). I'm realizing how effortlessly and clearly this music communicates those ideas which I could never find the words to express. These personal moments of clarity are all part of awakening, discovering connection between all life, and through the "playing" of music we find the oneness between us.

I want to bring this music to as many people as I can. Not because I want to be known, recognized, or praised, but because I want you all to know yourself and each other, recognize yourself in each other, and praise yourself and each other.

I don't know how to best get this music out there. This industry is weird, it's not structured to meet the goals that I have. But I will always try, and if that trying involves mornings like this spent at this wonderful desk thinking, tinkering, exploring, and listening, I'm perfectly happy and content to keep it up.

With that said, my Cleveland friends, please join us this Sunday September 13th at the Bop Stop or if you're not in town check out the livestream on the Bop Stop's YouTube page.

I can't fix the world's problems. There is no place to even begin by trying. I can't reclaim art from LLM's, I can't convince our American politicians to stop hurting people all over the globe, I can't convince your boss to stop exploiting your labor and for our society to protect those of us who are vulnerable and struggling. But I can guarantee one evening where we can come together for the simple purpose of being together.

If you're interested, you can go to the link in my bio and get your tickets or check out more info on how to livestream the concert. If you have questions, send me a DM

First off, please enjoy this slug from a couple weeks ago at @clevemetroparks

Very much looking forward to sharing this music with you all on August 12th at Edwins for a series being presented by @dominickmusic get your tickets soon this place fills up FAST...

I've been spending lots of time with these sounds lately as we've been recording and mixing some new music @sumarecording

There is something remarkable taking shape in the group, it keeps growing, evolving, and shifting with time. I don't want to keep boring you all on here with how much this group means to me, but I do want to say that these two friends of mine have had a profound effect on my artistic work, my aesthetic thought, and my personal capacity for deep listening and empathy. Documenting the music via recording (we have two albums out that you can check out on my bandcamp, more info to come on our upcoming release) has been incredible but playing together live for and with all these wonderful audiences is a joy.

Getting some mixing done for an upcoming release from Horizon Trio. New original music is always a blessing, and this stage of the process is inspiring, thought-provoking, and always very fun. David Alan Shaw @sumarecording is a joy to work with and listen with.
