One beautiful night of good food, good people and chefs showing up for one another and their teams.

Detroit + Ann Arbor chefs came together at Miss Kim in Ann Arbor for one special dinner benefiting the Southern Smoke Foundation.

A huge thank you to Ji Hye Kim for hosting us and bringing this wonderful group of chefs together. It was such a joy to cook, share, laugh and gather around the table with people who care deeply about food and about this industry.

Southern Smoke supports food and beverage workers through emergency relief and access to no-cost mental health counseling. Their work reaches across the industry, supporting farmers, truck drivers, chefs, cooks, servers, dishwashers, bartenders and so many others who make our food systems and hospitality communities possible.

We were proud to cook alongside:

Ji Hye Kim, Miss Kim
Hamissi Mamba + Nadia Nijimbere, Baobab Fare
Rohani Foulkes, Folk
Ederique Goudia, In the Business of Food
Joe VanWagner, Echelon Kitchen + Bar
Bob Bennett, Zingerman’s Roadhouse
Cody Shintoski, Marrow Detroit Provisions

Thank you to everyone who cooked, served, donated, ate and showed up.

This is what taking care of our own can look like. ❤️

We're hiring: Kitchen Lead & Baker

Folk is looking for a full-time Kitchen Lead & Baker to join our kitchen team: someone who takes pride in precise execution, consistent bakes, and keeping production running smoothly, from morning prep through busy service.

This is our senior BOH execution role. You'll work across line service, prep, baking, and catering/wholesale/events, partnering with our Kitchen Manager on production and menu development, and helping set the standard for the team. We operate on a guaranteed wage model, so your pay is stable and predictable, no guesswork week to week.

If you've got 1–3 years of kitchen experience, real baking skills, and want to be part of a James Beard–nominated food program that actually cares about how we source food and how we treat our team, we'd love to meet you.

💵 $20/hour guaranteed
🕐 Full-time
📍 Corktown, Detroit
