Murphy Campbell brings the deep-rooted ballad tradition of Western North Carolina to Green Note this May.

A 19-year-old ballad singer and contemporary clawhammer banjo player, Campbell draws on the music of the Toe River Valley and her own family history, combining a bold, distinctive voice with a natural, unshowy feel for old-time music.

“Campbell is a powerhouse on the banjo, not flashy or virtuoso, but with natural feel for his music. It courses through her veins.” – RootsWorld

Her debut album Revenant, due in late 2026, is an act of preservation, bringing together more than a dozen ballads passed down through her family, recorded in a historic church close to where her ancestors settled generations ago.

Montreal-based artist Kat Pereira brings her luminous, maximalist #electropop to Green Note this October. A multi-instrumentalist and synesthete, Pereira blends #jazz, #pop and #R&B with infectious melodies and bold, socially engaged poetry, drawing inspiration from #ErykahBadu, #HiatusKaiyote and #SayaGray.

Her debut album vert de lichen, released in 2025 with producer Félix Petit, explores identity, feminism and colonialism through richly layered sounds and vivid lyricism. A finalist at Les Francouvertes, Pereira has performed at major Canadian festivals including Les Francos de Montréal, M for Montreal and Ottawa Bluesfest.

This October marks her first European shows, bringing her vibrant and deeply personal live project to London.

I asked for apathy and unfortunately Oxford responded a little bit too literally so the Jericho Tavern show isn't happening anymore. Which is an important reminder to book in advance.

Thanks!
