Introducing the newly minted Folkway Music! A new logo that better represents our ever-evolving brand plus a brand-new website that’s easier to navigate, more intuitive to find the instruments, amps, and accessories you’re looking for, and faster to get the information you need.  We’ve added guitar dating reference pages across six major brands and our repair shop now has its own well-deserved spotlight, too.

What’s not changed is who we are, the famously incredible service we provide, the quality of the instruments we offer, and the care we put into everything we do at Folkway.   We’re excited to launch this next chapter of Folkway Music and we thank you for your continued patronage, service, and all the support you’ve shown as over the years! Our new site is now LIVE! Go see it for yourself at FolkwayMusic.com (in our bio). Many thanks to the @nascentdigital team for their truly exceptional design, expertise, service and commitment at every stage of this website-making project. #guitarstore #folkwaymusic #bestguitarshopever #canadianguitars #websitedesign by @folkwaymusic
1952 Fender Telecaster “Blackguard” An incredibly clean Telecaster from the model’s first full year of production, this 1952 build is a beautifully preserved example of a Blackguard. Boasting a remarkably well preserved Blond finish that is entirely original, this 74-year-old Telecaster presents beautifully. The guitar is completely original apart from a professional refret and neck pickup rewind. A fantastic-sounding Telecaster, this Blackguard delivers wonderfully rich and full-bodied tones with excellent snap, clarity and power. The full and round neck carve paired with recently installed frets makes for an all around dreamy playing experience. We have just listed this guitar on our website. Please follow the link in our bio for more details. #fender #telecaster #fenderguitars #vintageguitar #folkwaymusic by @folkwaymusic

1962 Fender Jaguar - Shoreline Gold Finished in the particularly uncommon “Shoreline Gold,” this first-year Jaguar is an incredibly impressive guitar. With a neck built in May of 1962, this Jaguar sports a “slab” rosewood fingerboard, a feature that disappeared from Fender guitars starting in the summer of 1962. As “Slab-board” Jaguars were only produced for a very narrow window in 1962, the combination of a slab board with a Shoreline Gold makes this early Jaguar an exceedingly rare guitar. This beautiful Pre-CBS Jaguar has already sold, but we couldn’t help but snap some extra photos while it’s still in the shop. #fender #fenderguitars #fenderjaguar #vintageguitar #folkwaymusic by @folkwaymusic

Friday Facts at Folkway: Episode 72. Fender “Faux Bursts” In this week’s vintage guitar deep dive, @nathan_schiller_guitar discusses a rather unusual feature that pops up in the late 1960s and early 1970s on some Sunburst Fender instruments. #fender #fenderguitars #fenderbass #vintageguitar #folkwaymusic by @folkwaymusic
1954 Gibson ES-175DN A clean and largely original ES-175DN from the model’s second year of production, this 1954 build presents beautifully. The well-preserved blond finish shows light crazing and a handful of minor chips and dents throughout. The guitar is completely original but for a previously completed refret, a new nut, and a small section of binding on the bass-side fingerboard extension. Both P-90 pickups and electronics are original and unmodified.  A remarkably good-sounding guitar, this P-90 equipped ES-175D delivers a beautifully rich and clear response in the bridge position, a warm and creamy voice in the neck, and a nicely articulated tone in the middle. Both pickups offer incredibly power and punch, pushing the front end of a tube amplifier perfectly. The fully-hollow construction imparts an airy and open quality to the guitar’s amplified voice.  This guitar will be listing on our website in the coming days. Give us a call at the shop if you can’t wait! #Gibson #gibsongutiar #gibsongutiars #vintageguitar #folkwaymusic by @folkwaymusic
1964 Gibson J-50 An excellent slope shoulder from the tail end of Gibson’s golden era, this ‘64 Gibson J-50 offers a warm voice with classic Gibson “thump” and a natural compression, making it an excellent rhythm guitar. The full C neck carve is quite comfortable, and the guitar retains optimal string spacing thanks to the pre-1965 1-11/16” nut width. This J-50 ADJ has had its adjustable bridge converted to fit a drop-in saddle. The guitar retains its original bridge plate. Priced at $5,495 CAD. This guitar has not yet listed on our website. Please call or email the shop for more details. #gibson #gibsonguitars #gibsonguitar #vintageguitar #folkwaymusic by @folkwaymusic

1967 Gibson J-45 The classic mid-1960s Gibson J-45, complete with adjustable bridge, opaque sunburst finish, smaller neck carve, and that sweet, warm and slightly compressed tone that is so unique to Gibsons from that period. A great looking guitar that’s fun to play, this J-45 is particularly rewarding to a guitarist with a light to medium right hand attack. It likes strumming and fingerstyle, as well as long walks in the park. Priced at $4,195 CAD. We’ve just listed this guitar in our website. 1956 Fender 5F11 Vibrolux With its original tweed, transformers, and circuit, this first-year 5F11 Vibrolux is a wonderful Fender tweed amp. The tweed covering has developed a beautiful natural patina over the last 70 years, making for a seriously handsome amplifier. The grille cloth, handle, and hardware are all original to the amplifier, adding to its cohesive vintage appearance. A remarkable-sounding tweed Fender, this ‘56 Vibrolux delivers harmonically rich cleans at low volumes, while providing excellent crunch tones when pushed. The tremolo circuit sounds incredible, adding to this amplifier’s all-around awesomeness. Just back from @marshalllespaulfan with a clean bill of health, this 70-year-old Fender is ready for the studio or stage. Follow the link in our bio for more details. #fender #fenderamp #fenderguitars #vintageguitar #folkwaymusic by @folkwaymusic
