GRIN & BEAR IT: A character clown comedy where female film & TV tropes unravel—dragging the audience along for the wild ride!

Emily Nicole Hansen plays THAT female protagonist—you know, the one you’ve seen over and over and over again. The show explores iconic female film and TV archetypes, from the “cool girl” and “working mom” to the “manic pixie dream girl,” “femme fatale,” “evil stepmother,” and “good girl.”

In this character clown comedy, the familiar tropes start to unravel as the real woman behind the roles emerges—tearing through the script and pulling the audience along for a chaotic and cathartic rewrite. “Grin and Bear It” is an interactive, overactive theatrical experience that challenges stereotypes with wit, heart, and complete absurdity.

Content Warning: This performance includes shapewear.

Directed by @mimi.vonschack 👸

This was such a special show! Grin & Bear It: Pregnant Version. And to share the stage with my director and friend @mimi.vonschack, her hilarious show Women & Things. There was magic in the room that night. What a great crowd. ✨

WOMEN & THINGS is back! My solo show, originally written in 2022, is coming back to UCB for one night AND opening for a show I DIRECTED- starring the incredibly talented @followingem! "Grin & Bear It" had a sold OUT run at last year's Fringe, and now Emily will be performing it again....and this time, she's pregnant. An extra feat! taken in Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre by @followingem
