Purple set #1 with @ish.aquino
A study on shaping, colors, emotion and storytelling

These photos are very dear to me 💜 I'm very proud that Ish and I were able to overcome many challenges throughout this shoot. It was hard to decide which photos to post first! We have more colorful combinations to come. Can you guess which colors or shapes might be next? ✨ by @follylately

Find happiness in your blue 🔵📷 @jimmyptorres
I recently have had my dreams return to me after having to give up practically all of my vices. It wasn't my choice as my body was telling me "it's time." In one of these dreams, I was at the bottom of the ocean in black water where the light did not reach. There was a spirit guide there teaching me how to shift and move the dark waters so that the light blue waters could appear again. It was one of the most mysterious, vivid and beautiful dreams I've ever had. By the end, the light from the sky was able to find me, but by then the Spirit Guide was gone. I was by myself, still at the bottom of the ocean.

It's only now as I write this post that I realized it was symbolizing my healing journey. I'm not meant to escape being deep in the water which is the sadness of my past. It is to shift the light in order to find the happiness within them.

I hope you find your own meaning and happiness in these photos. Thank-you, Jimmy, for the invitation - it was truly one of my favourite photoshoot experiences to date!! 💙💙 by @follylately

Some sweaters and glass I’ve made recently in a wonderful shoot working with two of my favourite creatives. Art Nouveau has been my favourite style of art as long as I can remember; it’s the first bit of art history I truly fell in love with. It honours nature’s complexity and is made to look as if it grew. Something magical in a world that’s trying to have as many straight lines as possible; it loves colour and pattern and asymmetry but above all Art Nouveau loves woman.

The Sagrada Família has been such a massive part of how I see art for so long; it’s a cathedral made to honour nature. Over the years I’ve been watching myself develop art and seeing how what I love echoes into what I make. I made a small cathedral to rest (a crochet tent) last year and it inspired me to begin stain glass. I’ve been Slowly watching myself recreate so much of the Art Nouveau I loved growing up but using traditionally feminine forms of making; textiles.

I do think its funny that something so inherently feminine was still so dominated by men, and so it feels only fit I revisited the era myself but as a woman within materials that have thousands of years of history in the hands of woman.

I used to paint because that’s what ‘great artists do’ but I think as I have deconstructed my own internalized Misogyny and kind of classist hierarchies of making I find myself connecting with woman’s art and art made to honour nature and woman. I’m moving towards a new era and mode of making, mildly but not fully away from textiles but would never have gotten here without the yarns I’ve spent the last 8 years being kept warm with. #crochet #sweaters #artnouveau by @follylately

Set 2 with 📷@bobtabbinerphoto from this shoot
Less soft and delicate, this set brought me to a different meditative space. One that demands power, the self and determination. Still playing with themes of hope, except with the perspective that everything will come true without a doubt.
To my fellow models - I would love to hear how you play with emotion and complexity in your style. Show up and show off in the comments - our skill deserves to be heard and appreciated.
To Bob - immaculate work as always, you don't miss.
