What seemed to be an impending doom and gloom trackday with 🌀⛈️Hurricane Rachel coming in hot, ended up paying out massively for those who just had a little faith 🙏🏻. Here's some content and my best lap of the day (1:52.58). Truly blessed to be able to have fun with cars surrounded by good company. ------ Big thanks to: @lvrscca and course workers for putting on another great event!🏁🏆 @doc_e33 for the alignment 📐 @gummygrip for the sticky tires 🛞 @tsai.chai @water_marlonnn 📸 for the additional media stitched in 🫶🏻And to all the great people and friends that make trackdays so much fun. Cheers to you all 🍻 #lvrscca #mazdaspeedmiata #timeattacklasvegas #inertialaboratory #GLHFculture by @foltz_racing
🤓Initial test drive went well (no swaybars connected). Car is very supple on surface streets at full soft. There's absolutely no teeth-rattling or sharp jaring. Goes to show once again, Shock Valving makes a world of difference and a very big shout out to @inertialaboratory for doing said valving/rebuild. You wouldn't be able to tell she's on 1120lb/560lb springs without me telling you. . . Now I am letting the ride height/springs settle a bit before we do our initial corner balance. Connect bars, tweak balance. Have our beloved @doc_e33 give her the MIDAS Alignment touch, recheck corner balance. . . And then .. replace my 13 year old cracking eBay downpipe 😆 (parts ordered JA) before we can hit up an event. #TrustTheProcess #InertiaLab #OhlinsUSA #LVRSCCA #MazdaspeedMiata by @foltz_racing
Short recap of the long journey getting this car back on the road. Yes, I may have taken more time than most people, but it's better to do a job once than to go dig back into it to do it again. Back in May 2021, I lost the #2 piston ringland using mild acceleration in town and noticed the car sounded like a Subaru when I came to a stop at a light. I nursed it back home. Checked compression and got 60psi on #2 with a 21% leak down venting to crankcase. During this time, I was leaving the Safety office and starting a new position at EMB which brought on a ton of time at work and not a lot of time/energy at home at the end of the day. Hindsight, I was probably seriously depressed as fuck from work and lost sight of my goals a bit which likely contributed to the delays. I started tearing down the car and yanked the engine in Dec 2022. In May 2023, I shipped the engine off to EBTEC to get the bottom end forged/rebuilt while working on the transmission and other accessories while I waited for the eng return. Once the engine got back home (June 2024), going back in the car was much tougher because I added a bunch of new parts which required test fitting and even some cases, engineering from scratch to get to fit to avoid chafing or serious failure. I want to thank the close friends and even some coworkers that actually have been there at my side either giving me advice on building car and keeping my head level at work enough to make it this far so I can enjoy the car and start retirement. . . #Mazdaspeed3 #MS3 #Speed3 #MazdaMPS #EBTEC #Corksport #SP63 #Bilstein #DamondMotorsports #jamesbaroneracing #BNRS5 #tialsport #Cobb #MSO #graveyardperformance #sleepycustoms #GroceryGetterPerformance #xclutch #NATOR #NATORAZ #NATORLV #Sleeper #WolfInSheepsSkin #fyp by @foltz_racing
Good thing I didn't buy this car for other people. I just wanted to drive. . . . . #Trending #fyp #slow #MiataProblems #viral by @foltz_racing
First time back at Autocross in just about a year with this car. Need to retire these heat cycled out Hoosiers, but Imma get my money's worth out of them until next season. I could only get them up to 105-110° today and they just weren't biting/digging in like they did when they were fresh. Best time for me was a 71.818 which put me 8th overall and 1st in class. Overall, It was another great learning experience with the new suspension setup and had a lot of fun. Next event up is LVMS Outside Road Course CW on November 22nd. I'll need to refresh the brakes and front hubs (I got a bad batch from SKF bearings.) . . Thank you again to @lvrscca for putting on another awesome event. . . . #lvrscca #wanggangmidnight #Miata #Mazdaspeed #autocross by @foltz_racing
Pride in Ownership is the biggest filter! From the fake TikTok broccoli 🥦 car kids to die hard enthusiasts that actually enjoy every aspect of owning their cars. This definitely includes all the shit times too. They bought their car for the clout, but couldn't be bothered to put ANY elbow grease into their "Pride and Joy". They would rather run it thru the Jiffy Lube and the Auto Car Wash, wrap and repeat it until the engine blows up or they just crash it into a tree when the skilltax comes due. . . . . #explore #CarOwnership #TikTokCarKidsSuck #timelapse #mazdaspeed by @foltz_racing

First time running with @socaldriversclub. I highly recommend running with them in the future. Super organized, helpful and provided a safe friendly trackday atmosphere. . ------ This is my best lap from the day. Was a bit nervous driving 6 hours all the way to Buttonwillow to shake the car down on the revised suspension setup and dusting off my own cobwebs. I was able to band-aid the boost cut issues thanks to @swift_racing75 and his great suggestion. Car had zero issues even despite the crazy ambient temps. Managed to only be .6 off my PB from 2 years ago in December on I believe a faster tire (Maxxis RC-1 V2s then). The current Falken RT660+ tires are not bad though. I think they just give up a little in the hotter temps when at the limit. . ------ Big shout out to @doc_e33 for getting the car's alignment squared away days before the event. She did wonderfully 🙏🏻 Another shout out to all the friends who made the journey to race and support one another all weekend @corrpti0n @charlesm9k @3eesracing @tsai.chai . ------ Car: - 04 Mazdaspeed Miata at 2454lb w/o driver - Joe's CAI, 2.5in Turboback to turndown - Stock ECU, 10psi, 315cc green top injectors, TS MAP clamp. - Ohlins DFVs 1150lb/550lb by @inertialaboratory - Small Fortune Racing front bar/stock rear - Stock brakes ducted with GLoc R12s/HP+ - Stock cooling system (ducted) - Aero: @rgr_design front splitter, GV canards, BBFW rear spoiler. . ------ 📹 Camera: GoPro Hero13 with #bossbossracing visor mount . . #MazdaspeedMiata #Buttonwillow #StillSlowBoi by @foltz_racing
Appreciation Post: @doc_e33 Just wanted to say thank you for your friendship over the (dare I say decades) and your wisdom. It's one thing to say, "yeah he's the go to guy for alignments" locally. But what comes with that alignment is one man's way of paying it forward to the next generation through education and guidance to grow driver's, safely and responsibly.. . . Eladio always explains the WHY with follow-up solutions if should XYZ occurs. From Educator, to engineer, from volunteer, to just a cool guy who enjoys driving with the boys, I appreciate everything you've done Sir 🫡 . . Now off to Buttonwillow for the weekend 🏁 . . . #DocOnDuty #FamousUnderwearModelVanhuesen #LVRSCCA #GUMMYGRIP by @foltz_racing
Excited for next weekend at Buttonwillow after being down for nearly a year. Let's see if these 1yo 660+ can do better than the RC-1s with a much stiffer sprung setup. . . #LVRSCCA #SoCalDriversClub #Toe2Toe #Mazdaspeed #949Racing by @foltz_racing
Just some old GoPro footage of me doing some brake pad bedding-in at night 🤤 by @foltz_racing
