@demibaguettenyc is New York’s first Algerian food truck. As you can guess from the name, sandwiches are a big part of the menu here. The chef is Algerian and spent some years living there where he learned more about the street food. It inspired his menu with dishes like the frite omelette. They just opened recently and will be experimenting with new menu items.Demi Baguette25-15 Steinway StAstoria, NY 11103 by @foodandfootprints

@jahns_restaurant is the last surviving location of a chain of ice cream parlors that dates back to 1897. At one point there were over 30 locations across New York, New Jersey and Florida. This one in Jackson Heights dates back to 1959 and has a full diner menu along with the ice cream. The interior is incredibly nostalgic with the counter, red booths, globe lights and Tiffany style lamps. A staple in the neighborhood. Jahn’s81-04 37 AveJackson Heights, NY 11372 by @foodandfootprints

@dragonsgrille counts billionaires as some of their clientele. They set up in one of NYC’s richest neighborhoods on the corner of Madison Ave & E 62 St. The father and son duo run the truck which comes from humble beginnings as a small cart back in 1986. They focus on high quality ingredients like ribeye steak, wild salmon and burgers on the grill. The owners are Greek and infuse those flavors into the food. Tried the viral Gypsy Burger with chili moni and a steak and chicken bowl. Tony Dragon’s GrilleE 62 St & Madison AveNew York, NY 10065 by @foodandfootprints

@ilfornarettobakery is one of Brooklyn’s oldest Italian bakeries dating back to 1927. They have pastries and are well known for their breads. Tried the prosciutto bread, olive bread and the round bread with tomatoes. All three were great with different textures. Their original location is in Bensonhurst, but they also have a second in Bay Ridge.Il Fornaretto 7616 17 AveBrooklyn, NY 11214Il Fornaretto Bakery7612 5 AveBrooklyn, NY 11209 by @foodandfootprints

@courtsquaredinerlic is one of New York’s last 24 hour classic diners. They’ve been a staple in Long Island City since 1946. It has that old school NYC diner vibe right when you walk in the door with the countertop seating and booths. Tried a few of the specials here that come as a big portion. The ribeye steak was solid for a diner and the Greek chicken was tender and delicious. Also had to order a slice of pie, a diner classic.Old school diners like these are slowly dying out in NYC, but Court Square is still going strong. @masanipizza is one of NYC’s best new pizzerias with a great back story. The husband and wife duo @mikejchau and @alexlchau who you may recognize from @foodbabyny bought Mike’s childhood pizzeria, Lillian Pizzeria and transformed it. Felix from @happybullpizza masterminded the pizza menu with a nice variety of slices with excellent airy crisp dough. They also offer pasta, garlic knots, pinwheels and more. @malaysiabeefjerky is one of the only spots in NYC that specializes in making bak kwa, a Malaysian jerky. They grill it over charcoal and have a few types of meats in spicy and regular varieties. They’ve been in business for 30+ years making one of the most satisfying snacks you can get in Chinatown.Malaysia Beef Jerky59 Mott StNew York, NY 10013 by @foodandfootprints

Leo’s Latticini aka Mama’s is the last old school Italian deli in Corona. They’ve been on the same corner for 100 years. The sandwiches are very popular and the fresh mozzarella is made in house. The owner Irene is carrying on her family’s tradition here and the place feels like you stepped back in time. One of my favorite old school Italian delis in NYC! @lemonicekingofcorona could be NYC’s most legendary Summer treat. They’ve been selling Italian ices in Queens for over 80 years. They have over 50 flavors, but 95% of the time I only choose one. The lemon is their staple and namesake for good reason. Incredibly refreshing and balanced. The peanut butter is a popular “if you know you know” pick here. They are open all year long!
