You are one of the most genuine souls I have ever encountered. Authentic, curious, deeply loving, witty, grateful & extraordinary.

Reaching 50 together has been the most beautiful, challenging, spirit-stretching & deeply healing experience.

33 years ago, we were two immature teenagers who found true love. Everything in between has been the most expansive journey; adventures, two beautiful babies, careers, creating a home for our family, so much therapy & healing, transitioning our loved ones, immeasurable grief & experiencing life’s most profound joys.

And here we are. We were deeply intentional about 50. We knew it marked the beginning of a new chapter & we worked hard before entering this decade.

You are a gift to anyone who gets to call you a friend. May you have peace in your spirit, grace for yourself & the health to live a long, beautiful life. May you laugh often, sip millions more decadent cappys in the early morning with our little family, spend time with the people who fill you up & keep growing into everything you dream of becoming.

Mami wanted it so badly.
She is an 80 year old immigrant, with a thick accent relying on people like you to remind her she belongs.

In that moment, we knew it was for every person who has struggled, is suffering, unseen, waiting, and being told they don’t belong.

The timing was divine.

Language, culture, and roots are power.

✨80 and 10 ✨
My radiant Mama and Son share the same birthday alongside my Abuelita. A lineage of love, strength and legacy.

✨Mama 80 ✨
My Mom is my best friend.
Every day she wakes up with a radiant smile, greets me with the longest hug. We begin our mornings with green shakes or some healthy concoction, conversations about how we’re evolving and transforming, Latin music, and a deep intention to infuse our days with joy and gratitude. We truly try to live this way every single day.

My Mom is doing the W O R K!
At 79, she received a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer. Since then, she has broken through old patterns, belief systems, ancestral traumas, leaning into growth through curiosity, courage, and faith.

This process is not easy at all, but with every moment of self reflection, every sound bath, healer, ritual, dedication to her Santos, meditation, podcast, conversation, and prayer, I witness her spirit shedding, expanding, healing, and transforming.

I am in awe of my Mom’s strength.
She teaches me daily to look inward, to be self-reflective, and to live with intention and grace.

My wish for you Mama, is to live with faith & a knowing that you are strong enough & brave enough to do anything. May you be blessed with health, peace & radical love all around you.

Poppy. Papito. Papa. Chaves. 🌹
You left Bogotá, Colombia the very day after giving birth to your first son. You boarded a boat & traveled through the Panama Canal with nothing but courage, determined to build new roots in a country that promised freedom and justice for all.

You didn’t just come for yourself, you brought our entire Colombian family to California. You worked every job you could find; painting, delivering telegrams, polishing furniture at the St. Regis, until you found your calling in real estate.

Even when people judged your thick accent, even when saying we were Colombian in the 80s carried its own stigma, you never hid who you were. Instead, you studied, you worked harder than anyone, and you rose to become one of the top agents in the field.

You always carried your citizenship papers tucked into your modest little wallet & you saved every tax return you & Mami ever filed. When I once asked why you held on to all of that, you said, “Mija, I want to have proof that I belong here, proof that I am honest and that I contribute.” How did you know Dad? It breaks my heart that you held that insecurity in your spirit.

You never failed, because you always tried and that is one of the greatest lessons you inspired in me. It’s why I am who I am.

I miss you Papito. 🌹 You guided me with love and faith. Everything I am is because of you & Mama.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, I honor you, the brave, wise, and loving man who brought me here and gave me the gift of this life.

OLVERA STREET, known as the birthplace of Los Angeles, is where we chose to spend our time & money this July 4th. We visited Ávila Adobe, the city’s oldest residence that has the oldest grape vines in all of California. We bought little trinkets, supported street vendors, connected with locals, listened to their stories, and offered what we all need more of: pure L O V E.

This vibrant Mexican marketplace was quiet today. I ask you to consider taking your family on an outing this Summer to visit this charming area & invest in our rich history & culture.

It was one of our favorite days as a family. ❤️

One year ago today. ✨

Throughout my father’s final days, my dearest friends would ask how they could help or support us. My answer was always the same, “Please, illuminate my Dad. Illuminate his journey so he may transition in full peace.”

Two nights before my father transitioned, my girlfriends quietly came into our backyard. Just outside my parents’ bedroom, they filled the table with candles, roses, and champagne. One of the most sacred gestures of love & light we have ever received.

We wheeled my sweet Dad out under the open sky so he could feel the love surrounding him, see the light, and bask in the moonlight one last time. We held hands around him, and he gazed into each one of their eyes as I said their name. It was one of the most powerful moments I have ever experienced. He soaked the moment in because he knew in his spirit, this was the last time they would be together in physical form.

There were difficult moments in my father’s transition. It was deeply beautiful—and at times, painful and heart-wrenching to witness. But that evening, through the sliding glass doors of his bedroom, we watched the soft flicker of candlelight and the vibrant hues of the roses fill us with peace.

I later used those same flowers and candles to create a procession, guiding my poppy as he was carried from our shared home. Looking back now, those were his birthday candles—marking his birth into the heavens.

Today marks the 1 month anniversary that my twin soul was birthed into heaven. My extraordinary guide, my father, transitioned on May 22, 2024 with his entire family by his side. He navigated his journey alongside family members & dear friends.

I want to share this podcast that I listened to years ago with my Father (Info below). It inspired the conversation about what his sign would be to me when he was in the spiritual realm and I was here in the physical one. With a deep knowing, he told me he would come to me/us as a red rose. My ego answered “Really, I thought it would be a hummingbird.” My father was quiet, looked at me with love & compassion (he always met people where they were at with so much grace).

He has revealed himself as both the red rose and the hummingbird. ✨🌹Papa, you have always been so open hearted.

There are beautiful signs everywhere of our loved ones who have been birthed into the spiritual world.

These are curious questions we should ask ourselves & our children. The KNOWING is the halfway mark, then comes the fun & enlightening part, the DOING.

This is my niece Bella. She called me after leaving her dance class beaming with clarity. “Tia, I danced for 90 minutes straight, I am dripping in sweat, I met friends and listened to some good music. This is my thing you know, I feel better, I released. I guess it’s like Quest & Khal playing baseball, or you doing that spiritual stuff, or my Mom cooking. It just makes me feel so good.”

Find what shifts your spirit & brings forth joy, tears, laughter-whatever you need, and make time for it.
