What’s a food you hated as a kid but can’t live without now? For me, it’s this spicy, sweet and sour - Masoor Amti❤️✨ Recipe: Ingredients • 1 cup akkha masoor (black masoor) • 1 small onion chopped • 1 green chilli • For tadka - mustard seeds, cumin, 4-5 garlic cloves, 1 dry red chilli, curry leaves. • 1-2 tsp turmeric • 1 tsp Goda masala (alternative below) • 1-2 tsp red chilli powder • 1 tsp coriander powder • 3-4 dry kokum / 2 tsp tamarind pulp • 2 tsp jaggery • Salt Method • Wash and pressure cook - masoor, turmeric, little ghee and green chilli. Give 2 whistles. • Once cooked, add kokum/tamarind and jaggery. • For the tadka, add above ingredients along with dry Masalas, salt. • Finally add in the cooked daal, give a good boil and garnish with fresh coriander leaves. ** Alternative for Goda masala - dry roast 2 tsp dry coconut slices & 1 tsp cumin until fragrant, blend to form a dry powder. Dal Dhokli - a bowl that hugs you back✨ Recipe: • 11/2 cups Wheat flour • Salt to taste • 1 tsp Oil (Ghee) • Mustard seeds • Cumin seeds • A pinch Asafoetida • Turmeric powder • 10-15 Curry leaves 1 Green chilli. • 2 cups boiled dal • 1 medium size finely chopped Tomato • 1 tbsp Goda masala • 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder • Tamarind pulp (Kokum) • 1/2 tsp Jaggery • Fresh corriander leaves • Water METHOD: 1. In a bowl, add the wheat flour, salt & corriander leaves. Use some water to knead this into a soft dough. 2. While that dough rests, for the tadka, add oil/ghee, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and hing, to a pan. 3. Once the mustad seeds pop, add curry leaves, green chilli, tumeric powder and salt. 4. Add boiled dal next and add water to adjust the consistency. 5. Once the dal comes to a boil, add tomato, goda masala, red chilli powder, kokum and jaggery. Bring to a boil. 6. Roll out the dough in thin sheets, apply some ghee on its surface and vertically cut it in stripes. Add these to the boiling dal. Give the dal a gentle mix while doing so, so that the noodles don’t stick together. 7. Cook the noodles for 10 mins onlow heat. Serve hot!
