Truly crazy to play for the NFL draft in Pittsburgh. I’m so grateful for the opportunity and these musicians. Vlog coming soon! by @foolishfrankie

Here is one approach to building an arc in a solo! I’m usually just following my ears and not really thinking about this stuff but there was certainly a time where I was thinking about it!

Now all I have to do is learn how to tie my tie so it’s long enough😩

@antondefade on bass, @georgeheidiii on drums, @bigpleak on keys!

I’m a little late to this post but playing at PAX East was such an incredible experience. Getting to share the stage with musicians I’ve looked up to for years and playing for a huge audience was so surreal. Huge thank you to @dompalombimusic for having me! Vlog just dropped on my YouTube so go check it out😎

How did I get worse😭

I probably haven't played over this tune since 2023 but wow this is embarrassing🥴 Every now and then this happens where my ears hear something in the wrong key (usually a 4th away) and it just locks into it and I can't hear it any other way. I've even had instances where the bandleader watches me struggle for 10 seconds and then yells the key at me lmao.

I guess it's good to just play confidently but even if most people don't notice *I* notice and that upsets me😂

Musical progress really isn't linear and it's wildly discouraging when something like this happens at this point in my career but that's the whole point of sharing this is to reassure younger musicians that mistakes are part of getting better!

One of the first paid gigs I ever did was playing Careless Whisper at a cemetery for this dude who was proposing to his girlfriend. I wore a wig, fake mustache, and a suit coat with no shirt on underneath it (pic in the full vlog on YouTube😬)

When I got called to play both Careless Whisper AND Sweet Victory from Spongebob I knew I had to say yes🙈

Full vlog out on YouTube now!

Anyone have any crazy first gig stories?👀

That is not the key we decided on😂

Fun(?) moment from a gig with @justinvorpmusic a few weeks ago. Someone sitting at the bar said they could sing Guantanamera, but after he invited her up we learned she does it in a different key than we planned😬

If you missed the full vlog from this gig it’s on my YT titled “Trying to survive a latin jazz gig”😂

The perfect reaction for debuting a new arrangement🥹

I finally got to play for a Mario Kart World tournament and arranged a bunch of music for it including this title theme! We'll be back at Bottlerocket Social Hall in Pittsburgh PA for another Mario Kart World tournament on 9/29 so if you're in the area come out!:)

Drummer insists I play cowbell during his solo...immediately regrets it😂

New gig vlog just went up on YouTube! Had a blast learning some hard Latin jazz music with @justinvorpmusic @abernathy_erik @drgiovanni25

Go check out the full vlog if you don’t know the difference between a bossa nova and a samba (like me🥴)
