They say good friends challenge you.
By that definition Joris Vermeylen is a very good friend (also by any other definition for that matter ;) )
5 months ago we were discussing the digital pinball cabinets he was playing on his laptop after a visit to an arcade hall (freeplay in Lanaken) . I said why don’t you build a cabinet to increase the realism of the gameplay, it can’t be that much work. He proposed I gave the good example, I complied and oh boy was I wrong.

Designing the blueprints
Wood works
Painting
Electricity
Electronics
3D prints
Computer hard/software configuration

But who’s counting hours when you’re having fun :)

I tried to keep everything as cheap as possible and reused old components and excess wood I had laying around amazingly resulting in a sub 200 euro build. (plexi glass, angel bars, paint, vinyl stickers, ink, buttons, …)

I chose to replicate a scaled down version of the 1993 Jurassic park by DataEast as in my mind it is a perfect match to my cherished Mortal Kombat 2 cabinet of the same year. But as it is powered by the amazing Visual Pinball X software any pinball machine can be loaded.

Hit the jackpot at the thrift store this weekend!
I was able to add this beauty in perfect condition to the Nikon collection.
A Nikon FA, manufacturing date somewhere between 1983 and 1987.
It was the very first camera to offer a multi segmented/matrix exposure light meter allowing for an automatic A(perture) and S(hutter) priority mode.
Can’t wait to start testing it out!

Marriage is making compromises 😅
Going to a costumed birthday party of a friend:

Anne : Let’s go as a 1920’s flapper and sheik.
Me: but I want to go as a Star Wars character…
Compromise : we go as the “ROARING twenties” 🤪🤣

“This is getting out of hand ! Now there are two of them.”

I first read about the virtual boy somewhere in 1994 and got hyped immediately. I was so bummed when it turned out it would never be officially released in Europe.

15-20 years ago I imported it from Japan and added the headache inducing device, considered to be one of Nintendo’s only flops, to the collection.

Today they released a new version for the switch/switch2!
What a time to be alive 🤣

Recently this classic turntable found its way to our home.

It is in need of some tlc (some slight rpm issues) but what a sight to behold and what a sound!

What better way to test it out than with a “new” vinyl arrival and also a classic in my eyes.

I’ve been looking for this one for quite a while on vinyl… love the combo of voices of #mikepatton and #jennifercharles

My first 2 #faithnomore albums on #cassette … of course this means I need to find the other ones now as well. I guess that makes me a #cassettetapescollector from now on … thanks for that @juliandebacker 😉

“Thanks” for introducing me to #kevinkobos , @juliandebacker 😉😀

Some new laserdisc arrivals from the last month.

Some classics, some childhood/teenage favourites and some guilty pleasures … how I classify them is for you to decide 😂

Finally found some time again to have some fun with the self made macro lens today.
This small fellow stopped by for a few seconds, just enough time to snap a picture.
