Our executive director and co‑founder, Dr. Kristen Ali Eglinton, delivered a three‑minute intervention on the UN floor at the International Migration Review Forum at UN Headquarters, New York.

This is our lightly edited cut for Footage’s channels. The link in bio goes to the official UN floor recording, which we’ll share more widely once permissions allow.

We spoke about humanizing migrants, compassion, dignity, and participatory feminist methods, grounded in FemSMS in and from Ukraine and its expansion to LGBTQIA+ communities in exile in New York City.

Exciting news! Footage is thrilled to share that we’ve received a grant from @nycpride !

Awarded through NYC Pride’s Pride Gives Back program, this support will help us launch FemSMS: Pride Edition - a trauma-informed SMS initiative co-designed with trans, immigrant, and exiled LGBTQIA+ New Yorkers, sharing compassionate, multilingual messages on safety, housing, immigration support, health, and mental wellbeing - bringing a globally tested, community-designed model home to New York.

At Footage, we celebrate the courage, creativity, history, and lasting impact of the transgender community. Trans leaders, artists, organizers, and community builders continue to shape culture, expand possibilities, create change, and lead the fight to advance movements for social justice.

Honoring trans history is a call to action. Allyship means listening to trans voices, using and respecting people’s names and pronouns, confronting harmful misinformation, and helping build communities where every transgender person can live safely, openly, and with dignity.

FemSMS is a Footage Foundation project - a community designed initiative that began in Ukraine in 2022 as a crisis response, built through compassionate messaging and peer support.

Through this free text-message service, participants receive regular, trauma-informed messages with information, resources, and referrals with no app or download required.

Our NYC Pride Edition is currently being developed with and for LGBTQIA+ immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and people living in exile, navigating shame, isolation, and barriers to information and services.

If you are a NYC organization or individual, we want to hear from you. Your anonymous input from our survey will help us shape how we design FemSMS Pride Edition.
