I love when the Madrone trees start shedding their bark, did you know that Madrone bark is prized for its high tannin content, acting as a natural astringent and antiseptic. Traditionally, it was used to soothe upset stomachs, ease sore throats, and treat minor sores or skin wounds. 🌿 Wound Care: The bark’s astringent properties make it an effective, traditional antiseptic wash to cleanse minor cuts, scrapes, and skin sores. 🍵 Sore Throats & Colds: A soothing tea made from the bark has been used for generations to help alleviate cold symptoms and sore throats.💧 Digestive Aid: Brewed into tea, madrone bark is used in small amounts to help settle upset stomachs and provide relief from minor digestive issues. #California #naturalmedicine #madrone #sierranevada #foraging by @foothillforagers
