On day three, we mentioned to June, our Airbnb host, that we were taking the highway to see the Cliffs of Moher. She rummaged through her car for a map, and using Spencer’s sketchbook and pencil, she made a list. If we followed her list, she said, we could take the scenic route, drive though small villages and the countryside, and still make it to the cliffs in roughly the same amount of time. Naturally, we opted for the more authentic Irish experience, and because we frequently pulled over to view the sights, we ended up adding several hours onto an already long drive. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Was I the one in the driver’s seat? Absolutely not 🙈 iykyk

We spent five days in Ireland, and for times’ sake we planned to visit only three castles. By the end of our trip, we’d have pulled over to explore at least a handful more that we’d spotted from the roadside. Every castle had its own unique charm. Our first day in Ireland was unimaginably perfect. We turned onto the dirt path towards our Airbnb and found June, our host, amongst the flowers in her garden. She showed us our room, gave us a tour of the grounds, and brought us to the cafe for welcome tea and cake. The cafe was lined with published books and magazines featuring her award winning garden, and the walls were lined with black and white photos of June as a toddler, playing with her mom and sisters in that very same garden. Afterwards, we headed back to our room to unpack and catch up on sleep. Hours later, when we woke up to the sound of rain hitting the skylight above us, we stepped out onto the patio to get a better look at the property. To our delight, a double rainbow was hovering in the sky, almost as if to welcome us once more 🐇🌷 #35mm taken in June Blake's Garden by @for.foxsake
