‘Big Ugly’ is out today everybody!

This album is nothing more than a gathering of good people, who made it and made its release happen. If it’s anything more than that, then it’s a dream about music, and about where we’re from and we hope you like it

The friends who made it:
@weirs.ig, @gordonramsay, @frank__meadows , @sluice.ig , @averysullivn, and @rodeo_walrus

The friends who helped us perform it:
@mercelemon, @nightlands, @john_james_tourville, and @iamjacobiplaymusic

The friends who realized it:
@alex_farrar produced, engineered, mixed, mastered, played guitar/lap steel… we made this record in the summer of 2024, it was nothing more than our honor to make it with Alex, with assistance from @camwormy

The friends who released it:
@dearliferecs is our home, @milkocromlom, @jon__mbajuice our family

Special thanks to the friends who made it more than music:
@timmdon and @spreadsheetjockey thank you for being our lifelines
@nikolas_soelter @eloyvseloy thanks for riding so hard with us
@_dropofsun_ for rewriting what hospitality can mean
@chajbo and @grahamtlbrtfoto for being our memory
@commonone for going to big ugly to photograph the mural
@danwriggins for writing the unwritable
@sashapopovici @peter_horses for the endless vision
durham nc and you!

let’s have a good 2025

Making their #BristolRhythm debut, North Carolina-based band @for_fust is joining our 25th anniversary lineup for Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion! 🎶⚡

Fust singer/songwriter Aaron Dowdy was born and raised in Bristol, Virginia. "Bristol is a great place to be born for music," he said in an interview with Inside Appalachia and WV Public Broadcasting.

Their newest album, Big Ugly, finds Fust taking its “gutsy, blue-collar Americana” further than it has before. Songwriter Aaron Dowdy pushes his obsessions with country-storytelling to more mystifying places, telling stories of Southern life teeming with utopian possibility that arises uniquely from the contradictions for which the south is infamously known. Big Ugly is also Fust–above all a group of close friends–uncovering a freedom within their sincere form of loose and fried guitar rock, emboldened to deliver both their most intimate songwriting and biggest sound to date.

We can’t wait to hear them for the first time in September! Get your tickets now for their sure to be unforgettable set! 🎟️ by @for_fust

Evil Joy, the first full length Fust album, was first released on May 28th, 2021, and captured lifelong friends at once at the beginning of existence as a functioning live band, and at a crucial inflection point in a long woven dialogue on relationship to song.

For the 5th anniversary, this touchstone in the catalog will be available for the first time on vinyl, complete with a fresh remaster by @c_linmiller , archival photos and new artwork, and is available today for preorder.

The latest tour for Big Ugly, also starting today, will feature these beauties at the merch table. Come for unmissable sets by @mercelemon , @walkerrider444 , @goldsoundz_ and @thomasdollbaum , and stay to grab one of these early. by @for_fust

🎶RW XIII Music Monday🎶
We are back with our first Music Monday of the RWR XIII season! Today we are excited to highlight...

✨ @for_fust ✨
Fust-the Durham, North Carolina-based band, new album ‘Big Ugly’ arrives after the release of 2024’s Songs of the Rail–“one of the best alt-country compilations…in a long, long time” (Paste) ‘Big Ugly’ finds Fust taking its “gutsy, blue-collar Americana” (New Commute) further than it has before. Songwriter Aaron Dowdy pushes his obsessions with country-storytelling to more mystifying places, telling stories of Southern life teeming with utopian possibility that arises uniquely from the contradictions for which the south is infamously known.

‘Big Ugly’ is also Fust––above all a group of close friends––uncovering a freedom within their sincere form of loose and fried guitar rock, emboldened to deliver both their most intimate songwriting and biggest sound to date.
