99% of people at markets are so lovely about my work and very encouraging. But markets can be the wild west too. Turning up at venues, unpacking your stand and showcase your hard work and soul asking people to buy it, it isn't for the faint hearted.

Luckily I'm normally feeling awkward and blushing from lovely comments and I've learnt to brush off any negative comments. You can't please everyone and that's ok 🤷‍♀️ taken in Bristol, United Kingdom by @foragedsmith

My path to metal work has been far from straight forward. I started this page as a lorry mechanic apprentice, not a sentence people expect me to say 😂 but from there I learnt to MIG weld and had the metal bug badly and started Foraged Smith as a place to share my journey and selling handmade metal coffee tables, to my signature t!TS made from exhaust brackets, nuts and washers. Using recycled materials wherever I could.

I started to help teach welding courses and then for my birthday back in 2020 my dad bought me a 6 week silversmithing evening course. I'd always tinkered with costume jewellery as a kid. Fixing things with gnarly pliers from the garage and I even made a charm bracelet that featured a plastic toy chicken. However the evening course was the first time I worked with silver and made a silver vial containing some of my brother's ashes. Such a special piece of jewellery that I still wear.

From there my self taught journey in silversmithing began, experimenting with silver at my kitchen table. Luckily the price of silver was slightly kinder on my bank balance back then. After my dad died and I stopped working as a mechanic and metal work/ silversmithing became my escape from grief. I've made lots of mistakes along the way and still have a lot to learn. But I will always be grateful for the cool things my work and art has allowed me to do. Anyway if you made it to the end WELL DONE, lots of love 🫶🏽 taken in Bristol, United Kingdom by @foragedsmith

My final BS4 Makers Market for 2026 but I'm hoping to be back in 2027. Thank you Naomi @thesetwohandsuk for curating such a lovely local market.

Luckily @thegreenpotionista gave me a lift to the market and also makes my favourite shampoo. Before I had even finished setting up, I purchased a new bar. I was surrounded by lush stands but how beautiful are these flowers home grown in Hartcliffe by @homekind.studio?

I replenished my sugar levels with delish cake from @hollymadecakes 🤤 followed by admiring @rachelmcnally.ceramics and trying to resist buying another headband from @ablemabeldesigns ...for now. I did start a bit of Christmas shopping with @theshedcollection and it smells divine.

I had great conversations with @skysiouki and @wendynortontextiles alongside with everyone who stopped by my stand to browse, chat or purchase from me. I had a bloody lovely day but now I need to lie down 💤 taken in St Cuthbert C of E Church by @foragedsmith

One of the more interesting versions of two birds and one stone. I was looking after my friend's daughter B, my friend's car needed a new battery, so off B and I headed for our side quest.

We picked up the new battery, went blackberry picking, made a cake, went to the park and had a picnic, alongside me switching out the car battery. taken in Bristol, United Kingdom by @foragedsmith

You can find myself and my recycled spoon rings, keyrings and jewellery at the lovely BS4 Market hosted by the wonderful @thesetwohandsuk

The joy of the recycled spoon stainless steel rings are they won't rust or turn your fingers green. A durable, chunky, recycled option ♻️

Summer is slowly creeping away and it's been a super busy one, so I must admit I'm not resisting hibernation season as much as I normally would.

Thanks to the help and photos from @macnabhermione this summer, I was able to get some gorgeous product photos. Alongside this I moved my website over to another provider and changed things up a bit. More change is coming next year too 👀 Plus lots of markets, I have a few left for this year before taking a break at the start of 2027.

With the change into colder seasons, comes gifting season. Try to buy with intention and items that will last, choose handmade, local and more sustainable options. All of these items are available currently on my website if you are browsing for jewellery made from recycled or as sustainably sourced as possible materials and handmade, by myself, in Bristol.

A lush private tuition group of 3, Sally and her two daughters this morning at @orchardjewelleryworkshop

Together we practiced some texturing on brass and copper to work out designs. Then we moved to silver and formed their rings.

It's so nice teaching people and helping them make memories as well as shiny trinkets ✨ if you would like to know more or book a class yourself all info on @makeitwithkim or www.make it.kim taken in Make It with Kim by @foragedsmith
