Dine Out, Do Good starts tonight. 🎬 🥘

We open the week at Foreign Cinema, a few blocks up Mission Street from our office, where films have been projected on the courtyard wall since 1999.

Chef-owners Gayle Pirie and John Clarke have run it for most of that time, cooking California-Mediterranean food that changes with the season. The city named September 26 “Foreign Cinema Day” at their 25th anniversary, which is about as San Francisco as recognition gets. It falls a week from Saturday, for those keeping track.

They’ve also spent those years quietly funding other people’s work. By that 25th anniversary in 2024, their benefit events had raised close to $700,000 for local organizations.

Tonight, a portion of the evening’s proceeds goes to Mission Graduates. Any reservation counts, all night long.

Foreign Cinema is the first of five restaurants giving back to our students this week. Dine Out, Do Good runs September 14 to 22.

Book a table tonight, and dinner does a little more.
