Retaking the SAT isn’t automatically the right move.

The better question is: does your current score meaningfully weaken your application at the schools you’re targeting, and is another attempt likely to change that?

Your score should be evaluated in context of:
• Your target schools’ actual score ranges
• Your percentile within those ranges
• How much improvement is realistically possible
• How much time another test cycle takes away from your GPA, essays, and activities

And no, you do not need to chase a 1500 just because you can.

Score strategy > score chasing.

Save this before you register for your next SAT, and send it to someone who keeps saying “just take it again.” 📚

You’re spending too much time on one question.

On the Digital SAT, knowing when to move on is part of the strategy. There’s no penalty for guessing, and your time doesn’t carry between modules, so don’t let one question eat up time you need elsewhere.

If pacing is costing you points, DM me “SAT” and let’s fix it before your next test.

If you’re taking an AP exam this year, September is a much better time to start preparing than April.

The biggest AP mistake isn’t waiting until the week before the exam. It’s waiting until spring to practice the skills the exam actually tests.

DBQs. FRQs. Timed writing. Multiple choice.
Those are skills, not just content.

Start early, practice consistently, and by April you should be refining your performance, not learning how to take the exam. 📚

The ACT you studied for might not be the ACT your student is taking.

The Enhanced ACT is now the standard version, and there are some pretty significant changes:

• The core test is now 3 sections: English, Math, and Reading
• Science is optional and no longer contributes to the composite score
• The core test is much shorter: about 131 questions instead of 215
• Math now has 4 answer choices instead of 5
• Students actually get more time per question on the shorter test

And if you're thinking, "We'll just use last year's ACT prep materials," stop.

The test has changed, which means your prep strategy needs to change with it.

Especially if you're considering adding the optional Science section, check your target colleges first. Don't assume you need it just because it used to be part of the ACT.

Save this if you're prepping for the ACT this year, and send it to a parent or student who needs to know. 📚

If you’re a Georgia senior still assuming your colleges are test-optional… you need to check again.

A LOT has changed.

Schools that were test-optional during the pandemic have been bringing testing requirements back, and assuming you don’t need an SAT or ACT score could seriously hurt your application.

In this video, I’m breaking down the Georgia schools that are no longer test-optional and what seniors should be paying attention to right now.

Because “I thought they were test-optional” is not something you want to discover after the deadline.

What if AP preparation started before the first day of class?

Earlier this spring, we had the opportunity to work with two groups of rising AP Government & Politics students as they prepare for the year ahead.

Rather than previewing course content, we focused on something many students don't learn until much later: how the AP exam is actually structured, how Free Response Questions (FRQs) are scored, and how the required Supreme Court case framework fits into the course.

Too often, students spend months learning content without fully understanding how they'll ultimately be assessed. By introducing these expectations before the course begins, students enter the classroom with greater confidence, stronger study habits, and a clearer picture of what success looks like.

Academic success isn't just about working harder. It's about understanding the system you're working within.

A special thank you to Ms. Elaine Murphy and @jeffersonmiddledragons for the opportunity to invest in these future AP scholars.

Proud to be back on campus. Go Dragons ❤️💙
