Planting seeds of change, cultivating a better world 🌱🌍
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Today, we celebrate the International Day of Rural Women!

We recognize the women who work the land, nurture seedlings, restore forests and support their families and communities through their dedication to nature.

As we mark 2026, the International Year of the Woman Farmer, we celebrate the vital role women play in food security, environmental conservation and building resilient communities.

Through tree planting and forest restoration, we believe that empowering rural women creates opportunities for income, strengthens livelihoods and contributes to a greener, more sustainable future.

When rural women thrive, communities grow stronger and forests flourish.

Protect Our Coasts. Restore Our Mangroves.

Coastal erosion and storm surges threaten shorelines, habitats, and the communities that depend on healthy coastal ecosystems.

Mangroves provide a natural line of defense. Their roots help stabilize sediment, reduce wave energy, and create important nursery habitats for marine life.

Through Plant to Stop Poverty, we’re working to restore mangroves while supporting healthier, more resilient communities.

Support Plant to Stop Poverty and help us plant more mangroves.

Protect the coast. Restore nature. Stop poverty.

COP12 of the Nairobi Convention has come to an end, but the work continues.

Held in Dar es Salaam, the conference brought together countries, partners and stakeholders from across the Western Indian Ocean to advance solutions for protecting marine and coastal ecosystems, addressing climate change and pollution, conserving biodiversity, and building resilient coastal communities.

For Forest Focus, COP12 was an opportunity to share experiences, learn from others, build meaningful partnerships and strengthen our commitment to conservation and restoration especially in forests, mangroves and coastal ecosystems.

We are taking these new insights and connections forward to support practical action and create lasting impact for communities and nature across Tanzania.

Never out of stock: Growing for restoration

As we continue planting and monitoring, our nursery operations keep moving.

New seedlings are constantly being produced and nurtured, ensuring we always have healthy stock ready for planting whenever resources allow.

Beyond restoring landscapes, this continuous process also creates employment opportunities for local communities, involving people in seedling production, nursery maintenance, planting, and monitoring.

It’s a continuous cycleproduce, nurture, plant, monitor, and repeat.

Keeping the nursery ready means we can keep restoration moving, one seedling at a time. by @forest_focusppl

Forest Focus Continues Community Engagement Along the Pangani River Basin

The Forest Focus team continues to provide environmental education and engage communities in villages located along the Pangani River Basin, including areas where our tree-planting sites are established.

As part of this ongoing engagement, the team has been meeting with village leaders to strengthen community participation in protecting planted and naturally regenerating trees from human activities that may threaten their survival, including uncontrolled livestock grazing.

These engagements also help communities prepare for the upcoming tree-planting season, ensuring that local leaders and community members are informed, involved, and ready to support restoration activities in their areas.

Protecting trees is a shared responsibility. Together, we can restore and protect our landscapes.

When the land degrades, communities feel the impact.

Land degradation reduces vegetation cover, weakens soils, threatens agricultural productivity, and can make landscapes less resilient to climate pressures.

But degraded land can recover.

Planting trees is part of restoring the land. Trees help protect soil, rebuild vegetation cover, support natural regeneration, and create healthier landscapes for people and nature.

Restoration is not just about planting more trees it is about giving the land a chance to recover.

Let’s restore our landscapes before degradation becomes harder to reverse.

Joyce’s Journey Is Getting Brighter
Today, We Celebrate Her Graduation!

Joyce’s journey began with challenges that could easily have limited her opportunities. Her previous school was far from home, while financial difficulties made it hard for her family to meet her educational needs.

Through our tree planting initiative, Plant to Stop Poverty, Forest Focus supported Joyce’s education by helping her transition to a better learning environment and providing the essential school supplies she needed to continue her journey.

Today, we celebrate her Form Four graduation a milestone that represents more than a school achievement. It represents hope, opportunity, and the power of investing in a child’s future.

But her journey does not end here.

As Joyce prepares for her Form Four examinations and looks toward the next chapter of her life, we will continue walking alongside her.

Because Plant to Stop Poverty is not only about planting trees. It is about planting opportunities, nurturing potential, and creating a future where communities can thrive.

Joyce’s story is one of many reasons we keep planting.

20 REASONS WHY WE MUST KEEP PLANTING TREES

#4 — Topsoil Erosion & Landslides

When forests disappear, slopes lose their natural protection. Without vegetation, heavy rainfall can wash away valuable topsoil and, under certain conditions, increase the risk of slope instability and landslides.

Why we plant:
Tree roots help bind and reinforce the soil, while vegetation and leaf canopies reduce the impact of rainfall and slow surface runoff. Together, they help protect soil, stabilize slopes, and strengthen landscapes.

Before the next heavy rains arrive, support Plant to Stop Poverty and help us plant trees that protect soil, slopes, livelihoods, and communities.

How beautiful, trees and crops growing together, supporting each other and strengthening the land.

Trees can improve soil health, help reduce erosion, support biodiversity, and contribute to more resilient and productive landscapes.

This is the beauty of agroforestry working with nature to create sustainable landscapes where trees and crops can grow together.

Trees and crops don’t have to compete. They can grow together, support each other, and sustain communities.
