Banksia appreciation post 🌱

When we came to check out our home before buying it, we pulled over to the left of the property's entrance.

Me being away with the plant fairies as I am, I jumped out, grabbed my then baby Vinny and looked up at the forest here.

The very first thing I remember is seeing Banksia and pointing them out to him.

We are so lucky to have these architectural natives dotting the canopy of our forest, and now through @forestfarmdenmark to be able to share these beauties with local florists and creatives.

I'm learning so much about them, we appear to have mostly bull banksia but have brought in a number of other varieties we're excited to watch flower over time.

Nature never ceases to amaze me 🌱

In the true essence of Djilba, the seeds we've been quietly planting are starting to burst into life 🌼

At @forestfarmdenmark, we are now the edible flower supplier for @pepperandsaltrestaurant_wa 🥹🙏🏼🤍

Thank you so much @chefsilasmasih for the opportunity to showcase our locally and organically grown beauties.

COMMUNITY OVER COMPETITION 🤝

There’s so much creative floral talent in the Great Southern from flower farmers to florists and stylists like:

🌻 @elf_blooms
🌻 @blooms_for_biddy
🌻 @forestfarmdenmark

And those are just the denmark locals!

So why wouldn’t you want to be part of a community of likeminded folk who can help source local blooms and lend a literal hand with big projects?

I’m a really big believer that a rising tide lifts all boats and there’s plenty of customers around for everyone because we all have different styles and specialties 💛

So if you’re getting married in the Denmark region drop us a line and maybe we can bring your vision to life!

And on the off chance we don’t quite fit - we can point you in the right direction of who might because we’re all mates 😆

Here's a quick recap of what we've been getting up to at @forestfarmdenmark lately.

Djilba is well and truly in the air with cheeky sunny days, and flowers starting to bloom.

The veggies are stoked after drinking up all the rain and we can't wait to harvest soon 🤍

Gardens are never instant, nature will not be rushed 🌱

I guess that’s part of what makes them so special in a world of instant gratification and fast living, gardens force you to slow down and reconnect with the cycles of nature again.

Our veggie garden at Forest Farm has taken two years of hard work, love and learning to get to where it is today, and it’s never going to really be finished.

It’s a place of constant tending, experiments, life, death and rebirth 🤍

The one certainty we have in the garden (besides weeds) is that time will pass whether you’re ready to start your garden or not, so you may as well start and figure it out as you go like we do 😅

When my neighbour texts saying she's making her famous veggo curry, I've got her covered in the spinach department 😂

Honestly one of the most fulfilling parts of growing our own food is sharing it with others.

We've been so lucky to tap into our local community of growers here in the country where everyone shares seeds, seedlings, produce and the most incredible knowledge 🤍

Welcome to Forest Farm Denmark 🌿

Our home nestled amongst Jarrah giants where we've been learning how to grow our own food and flowers with our little ones involved every step of the way.

Over the past few years I've been documenting our builds and growing adventures, and I'm so excited to start sharing with you all now.

Thank you @bencollyeah and @bushmanbuilt for your patience, incredible skills and for bringing our dreams to life 🌱✨
