What a milestone! 🐾 This weekend I took Forever In Step to its very first physical event, the RDA Diamond Centre Autumn Fair, a fundraiser for the centre.

The Diamond Centre means so much to me.

Volunteering with the horses there inspired our equine card collection, so it felt like coming full circle. 🐴

The best part was the conversations.

So many of you shared memories of the horses, dogs and cats you've loved and lost, some recent, some from years ago but still close to the heart.
Every story reminded me why Forever In Step exists: losing a pet is real grief and deserves to be honoured gently. 💛

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, and to the Diamond Centre team and volunteers for such a warm welcome.

I was sad at the time, the way you’d expect. What I didn’t expect was to still feel that catch of sadness now, all these years later. Grief doesn’t really stay in the past the way we think it will.

Being outside helps me. Especially the beach — something about the rhythm of waves that doesn’t ask anything of you. You just get to be, until the wave passes.

That’s where A Gentle Pause came from. Grounding exercises, a save-to-your-phone emergency card, and now a beach soundscape too — recorded on an ordinary walk, because that sound has done more for me than I can easily explain.

Not a fix. Just something gentle to hold onto, for whenever the wave comes back around. RIP Chesta…miss you still 💔

This one began at the RDA Diamond Centre, where I volunteer alongside horses like Dominic - steady, gentle souls who teach us about grief and healing more than words ever could.

ForeverInStep was born from wanting to help people say goodbye to the animals who walk beside them. Starting with cards for cats, dogs, and horses — because love doesn’t ask what species.
