2nd Annual Back to School Drive🌟🖤📚

Unfortunately there was a severe thunderstorm that caused the event to end much earlier than expected, but the most important thing is that the kids enjoyed themselves and were able to get all the supplies they needed within the short timeframe we had. The first couple months of the year, I was blessed with the opportunity to work for a nonprofit advocating for children’s suicide prevention, where I was able to travel to different states, bring awareness, and connect with people who wanted to invest in the nonprofit. I had to tell people everyday that an 8 year old was the youngest to take his own life in the state of Georgia. During that time, I met donors who had lost a child, sibling, parent, or friend to suicide. It was such a heartbreaking feeling because I know what it feels like to have so much pain that you don’t see another way out. I remember being in a space where I would write “goodbye” letters to my loved ones. I remember what it felt like to carry pain that I didn’t know how to explain and to believe that maybe everyone would be better off without me. I’m grateful to have made it through those moments.

I pray for healing for every person who has lost someone to suicide. I pray you find comfort, even on the days when the grief feels heavy all over again. But most importantly, I pray for those who are currently struggling. The ones who are quietly fighting, the ones who don’t know how to ask for help, and the ones who have attempted. I pray you find peace and strength in such a painful situation. Most of all, I pray you stay long enough to experience a life that feels completely different from the one you’re struggling through today. May the genuine love and intention behind me typing this consumes your mind and soul as you read it. May it sit with you when you’re having a hard day and remind you that your story is still being written.
Sometimes healing starts with simply making it through one more night, one more conversation, one more morning, and one more day.
