The National Audubon Society protects birds and the places they need, today, tomorrow and for the future through science, advocacy, education and on the ground conservation. So for me, this is so important and something I am truly passionate about.With over 8,500 photography submissions worldwide, I was beyond proud of myself to receive the honorable mention in the 'plants for birds' category.Each class has one winner and one honorable mention. The Black-necked Stilts are so elegant, and impossible to mistake especially with their long pink legs that help them glide through shallow wetlands in search of food. I had already seen the Blue-winged, the Golden-winged, and the Brewster's Warbler this year.
