A woman at Lisa G’s the night before this hike told me I was “an enigma wrapped in a riddle”… anyways, I woke up at 4:20am on 3 hours of sleep to climb a mountain and watch the sun rise over some trees, so maybe she has a point. 😅🍁

This one was def worth it!

Didn’t realize this was a full-circle morning until after the ride back down.

We rode Whiteface before sunrise and somehow got peak fall, a cloud inversion and one of the most unreal mornings I’ve ever seen in the Adirondacks⛅️🍂🍁

After biking back down, I realized that almost exactly five years ago I had stood on this same summit finishing my 46.

Five years later, same mountain… Completely different adventure. These mountains have a way of keeping you coming back 🤍

Turns out rainy Mondays in the Adirondacks aren’t so bad... especially during peak foliage 🍂🍁

Since hiking was out of the question, we got dressed up, wandered around Whiteface Lodge, and continued our very important mission rating all of the espresso martinis in Lake Placid.

This morning was one for the books⛅️🍁
A sunrise cloud inversion from the top of Whiteface Mountain, with Lake Placid buried beneath the fog and the High Peaks + fall foliage peeking out above it.

I would like to formally apologize for every time I’ve complained about a cloudy hiking forecast.

Sunday morning we hiked Bear Den and the foliage was already popping. Reds and oranges were lit, with plenty of green/yellow still mixed in… aka my favorite stage because you get ALL the colors.🍁🍂

We had low clouds moving through the valley almost the entire morning, which somehow made it even better. So if the forecast says cloudy this fall: GO ANYWAY.

9/26 foliage report from Rocky Mountain in Inlet 🍁📍

The reds are POPPINGGGG off. 🔥 Not quite peak yet, but in my humble leaf-peeping opinion… we’re not far off.

I drove north from Inlet to Lake Placid later that day and saw some gorgeous color through Blue Mountain Lake + Long Lake too.

The best season of the year is officially in full swing, so if an Adirondack fall trip has been on your list… this is your sign to get up here soon. 🍂⛰️
