ROUGE VALLEY TRAIL (RVT)
📍From Too Good Pond via Milne Dam Conservation towards 14th Ave near 9th Line

ABOUT RVT
The Rouge Valley Trail is a trail system in Markham that is ~11km. Following the rouge river fr. Toogood Pond, it connects to Milne Dam Conservation Park & leads out to 14th Ave near 9th line. It is a mixture of asphalt, concrete, wooden bridges & gravel. Along the trail there are entrances/exits where there is access to parking/food

ABOUT DYSHNI @healingcyclestherapy
If you were to ask me if I’d go w/ you to the forest on a first date, I’d probably say no. But Dyshni (@forkinhungry) convinced me it would be safe & enjoyable (spoiler: it was). Dyshni is a mom of 2 & a social worker. Being an eldest daughter of immigrants, Dyshni went through her own healing journey + found that she wanted to be the therapist for others that she could not find for herself. Thus she started Healing Cycles Therapy (@healingcyclestherapy) where she focuses on creating a healing space where individuals can focus on their stories w/o having to explain their cultural backgrounds

One big misconception she shared was people often feel they need to be broken to go to therapy. In reality, she wants people to know that people go to therapy for all types of reasons from learning how to rest, to finding joy, to living their best life

Aside fr. commiserating on our potty training frustrations, Dyshni also shared that her greatest joy as a parent is being able to give her children the opportunity to be present in their childhood & having the privilege to have presence w/ them. I really resonated too w/ Dyshni’s comment on healing in real time where many try to do things differently than the prev. generation but still need to parent in the moment

Our date ended w/ Dyshni giving some really great advice: “put yourself on the to-do list”. It is a great reminder as parents to make sure we fill our cup when we can
