We’ve been meaning to try the Kirkland Châteauneuf-du-Pape (CDP) for a while now but just haven’t been able to find it…until more recently.

As a CDP, you’re looking at varieties from the Southern Rhone, like Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre, which are familiar to us, so we were looking forward to this wine.

However, we were not impressed by it as it tasted bland and had no tannins at all. We’ll definitely be on the lookout for other CDPs in the future.

Basting some @kerrygoldusa butter over a ribeye steak with garlic, thyme, rosemary, and oregano adds a nice finishing touch to the overall dish.

We stumbled upon this speakeasy in the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego, where you had to pick up a red book off the shelf to gain entrance. A little fun, but also a little confusing since we were asked to make reservations right on the spot. Of course, we were able to get inside and were greeted with some complimentary sparkling white wine. We ended up with two cocktails and played a questionnaire game.

We joined in on a @totalwine event at the San Mateo location, where we tasted wines from @joethewinemaker that included Belle Glos, THREADCOUNT, BÖEN, QUILT, TULI, and VENNSTONE.

We even got to hand dip our own bottle wax, just like their signature Belle Glos bottles.

If you don’t visit the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego, did you even go to San Diego?

Tacos El Gordo is a must visit if you ever find yourself in San Diego. While the line gets long, it actually moves pretty fast. There’s separates lines if you’re ordering beef and pork items.

For us, we opted in for their asada, chorizo, and lengua tacos.

A must-visit restaurant in San Diego: @quixotemezcal

We enjoyed the following:
• Pulpo, grilled octopus, mole pipian, corn nuts
• Smashed tuna tartare
• Memelita, crispy sope, duck carnitas, black mole, cotija, beans
• Chili garlic shrimp tacos

Then cocktails at the bar afterwards!

We stumbled upon this Japanese restaurant while deciding where we’re going for dinner.

Great ambience. Great food. Great staff. Also, a party sitting next to us offered us some of their sake! 🍶

Plus, their use of a One Piece manga as their check holder was unique!
