Look who’s back at uni 👀🎓

Our Clinical Team Leader Nathan Brown headed back to his old stomping ground at La Trobe for the POSS End of Year Celebration, which we were chuffed to sponsor.

He was on prize duty, and Alex K walked away with a trip to Sydney: flights, accommodation and three days getting hands-on with our team. Not a bad way to finish the year!

Big thanks to POSS for having us. Congrats to all the students, the future of O&P is looking pretty bright ☀️

Uni, school or community group after a hand? Slide into our DMs 👋

One year ago, we began a new chapter as ForMotion, building on years of experience, dedication and care.

While our name has changed, our commitment remains the same - empowering people to move with confidence, achieve their goals and live life on their own terms.

This milestone is more than just a celebration of our first year. It's a celebration of our incredible team, the patients who inspire us every day, and the partners who continue to support us.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Here's to many more years of making a difference, together! 💙 by @formotionclinicaus

Big week in our Central Coast workshop.
Our first PDE AFO, made start to finish under our own roof. And it’s for Grant, who’s been through a dirt bike accident, multiple surgeries and ankle reconstructions, and now has his sights set on running again.
Huge shout out to Liz and Lisa for every hour behind this one. Proud doesn’t cover it.
Got a goal of your own? Come say hi to the team at ForMotion Clinic Central Coast.

To those who care, thank you 💙

This week, we're celebrating the carers, families, partners and friends who back people living with limb difference or limb loss.

You show up for the appointments, the tough days and the little wins. You're the encouragement in the background, and we see it in our clinics every day.

To every carer in our community, thank you for all you do.

Tom meets a lot of kids through his work. When they ask about his arm, he's happy to talk.

Tom was born with one hand. He's an ecologist, a dad, and the founder of Hooked on Nature, running wildlife shows at museums, conservation centres and botanic gardens.

"Don't push people away from that. Encourage conversations. I meet lots of kids through work, and I treat this as an opportunity to educate people about my limb difference."

Community grows when people feel free to ask. Our team at ForMotion Clinic backs Tom with attachments for his workouts, his compound bow and his myoelectric arm.

"After two and a half years I'm riding again."

Wayne's a retired train driver and a motorbike man through and through. After a 2019 accident and 14 operations, the bones in his foot collapsed in early 2021, and that led to a below-knee amputation.

His goal was simple: walk, then ride. Physio, laps of the walking track at his local park, and plenty of grit later, he's back on the bike.

His tip for anyone starting out: "Be sure to surround yourself with people that know what you have endured."

Who's the person who gets it for you? Tag them below. 💚

School drop-offs. Two training sessions. Two social games. Every week.

That's Nid's routine.

In May 2015, a motorbike accident in Thailand led to an above-knee amputation of her left leg. Today she's a busy mum of two, married to Alex, and a competitive para-badminton player who has competed internationally.

Her family at home and her crew on the court keep her moving.

"I now feel I can achieve anything in life."

Find your sport, find your people. Ask your clinician about clubs near you. 💚

Stephenie found her people with a sabre in her hand.

In 2019, she contracted cerebral malaria in Nigeria. A coma, organ failure and sepsis followed, and in 2021 she had partial amputations of both legs above the ankle.

Then she picked up wheelchair fencing.

"Parasports has helped me access a friendly community of positive people."

Today she competes internationally in women's sabre, runs her own safety app business, and wants to build an Australian women's parafencing program so more people can give it a go.

Her advice: "Advocate for yourself. Don't be afraid to speak up."

A walk, a swim, a training session. It's easier to get out there with people beside you. 💚

It's Amputee Awareness Week, and we couldn't think of a better way to mark it.

Our customers and crew spent the day learning wheelchair fencing with Alex at Sydney Para Fencing. Lots of first-timers, lots of laughs, and a room full of people trying something new together.

That's what it's all about for us. Not just getting the fit right, but getting you back out there doing the things you want to do.

Thanks to everyone who came along, and to Alex and Sydney Para Fencing for having us 💙

22 surgeries. Then a decision.

In March 2017, 700 kg of steel fell on Aaron's leg at work. After 22 surgeries trying to save it, he had a below-knee amputation in 2018.

Today he runs, trains at the gym and is working his way back to cricket. He's also part of a peer support program, helping people who are just starting out with limb loss.

His message for them: "Never give up no matter how hard life gets, there is light at the end of the tunnel."

Talking to someone who's been there can answer questions no brochure can. Ask your clinician about peer support near you. 💚

"David's got the arms, I've got the legs."

That's how Vicki sums up life with her husband David. 😄

David had a below-knee amputation after a 2014 injury left his leg with 16 breaks and him on crutches for three years. Vicki lost her hand in 2020, two decades after a workplace accident as a volunteer firefighter and 44 surgeries trying to save it.

Together, they found their people on the lawn bowls green. They travel all over Australia for competitions, and Vicki has played at Nationals three times, bringing home silver in 2022.

Their advice: "Never give up. Always try, and you'll be amazed at what you can do."

Proud to be part of their team at ForMotion Clinic Hunter. 💚
