We’re witnessing livery history.
A design that will be reinterpreted for years to come, or a complete miss? @audif1
Results on track may shape its longevity, but from a purely aesthetic standpoint… what do we think? by @formuladesigndispatch

@charles_leclerc refreshes his helmet with additional white and baby blue accents. The changes are minor, the silhouette unchanged, and the overall effect likely to go unnoticed outside of slow-motion replays.

More White, More Blue, Same Helmet.

@haasf1team have finally dropped the car, and… it’s very Haas. Sensible, tidy, and clearly focused on survival rather than surprise. No wild risks, no visual shock factor, just a car that looks like it wants to quietly do its job better than last year. Whether that’s enough in this midfield is the big question.

Ahead of the car livery reveal on Friday 23 January, @scuderiaferrari have unveiled their driver suits. And, to be fair, these are some of the best they’ve produced in years. It is genuinely nice to see Charles and Lewis not wandering around the paddock looking like fast-food chain employees, courtesy of overdesigned suits and polo shirts.

I have been asking for a proper red-and-white combination from Ferrari for years, and finally we’re here. If this is the direction they’re going in, I’m suddenly a lot more interested in seeing the car. by @formuladesigndispatch

A new video essay series looking at Formula 1 through a design lens.

Across the 2026 season, I’ll be reviewing every new car as it launches, alongside special helmet designs and other moments where performance and visual identity intersect. Follow if that sounds like your thing.

2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest visual resets Formula 1 has seen in years. Smaller cars, more exposed intent, new aero surfaces and even an overtake button all create a very different canvas for livery design. For once, the regulations are doing designers a favour.

One of the most influential changes is the requirement that 55% of the visible bodywork must be covered, effectively ending the era of weight-saving, fully carbon fibre stealth cars. More colour, more intent, fewer design excuses.

@redbullracing were first to show their hand. With @fordracing returning, the livery leans into a restrained retro sensibility. The Ford logo is integrated rather than imposed, supported by darker blues, gradients and texture. A gloss finish, heavier but more confident, recalls the Vettel era and gives the car real presence.

It retains everything iconic about Red Bull while feeling quietly refreshed. A solid first statement. Four out of five. by @formuladesigndispatch
