Join one of the pillars of our team, @christyclaybaker with @forrestingthesoul, as she shares her hearts offering, a book written inspired by her daughter all about the chakras! This is a fun way to introduce the energy centers of the body as well as have your children affirm powerful affirmations at each energy center! Lets keep them awake with tooks of awareness like these! What a blessing to have the author herself reading it to our children in our kids zone ! May our kiddos never forget their True Selves! by @forrestingthesoul
Staying in an AirBNB in the town you were born in after you’ve been away for a really long time is quite surreal. There’s a great little spot a 1/2 block away where they’ve built a beautiful trail through the city that follows the canal. As a child, these canals were my favorite places to play. I was alone a lot, so the trees/animals were my friends. This morning, I’ve been up since 3AM, unable to sleep as I process all the loss we’ve experienced in our family, after sorting through boxes of old photos and crying most of yesterday. I chose to welcome the sunrise on that sweet little trail and was so delighted to be greeted by the animals in the canal. And, it’s only appropriate that a “trash panda” would be my encounter. Aunt Bonny loved Panda Bears! I suppose it would be a bit unbelievable to have an encounter with a real panda bear in south Oklahoma, so this was the next best thing. Poor thing was so busy scavenging for breakfast, it didn’t even know I was there, taking photos of what I believe was a direct message from Aunt Bonny: I love you. I know she loved me. Truth is, she helped raise me along with my grandma; my parents worked a lot. Aunt Bonny & Uncle Kenny were a big part of my formative years which is probably why I feel this loss so deeply in my bones. I couldn’t help but imagine her and what she was feeling as I watched the life flight helicopter fly above me this morning from the hospital, knowing it had flown her to OKC almost exactly one week ago. Watching our small family get smaller is hard. Aging is weird and death is awkward. It’s all messy and every family goes through this and copes in their own way. I spent the first half of my adult life avoiding it, now I’m leaning in. It’s my turn to become an elder. I accept what is and am also giving myself grace and compassion as I sort through feelings and coulda shoulda’s, and self-judgement. Friends….take the FEW MINUTES to tell your family you love them and are thinking of them, WHEN you feel it. Don’t put it off. NOTHING makes us so busy that we can’t pause for the cause. Death always puts LIFE in perspective. #mcalester #myroots #raccoon #trashpanda by @forrestingthesoul

Yesterday, while in session with my last client, a brand new bottle of liquid detergent fell from the top of the washer, presumably while it was shaking, busted the cap off, and spread all over the floor. It was the straw that broke the dam. While crying and trying for nearly 30 minutes to scoop up slimy detergent onto a dust pan and squeeze it out of a washcloth into the sink, knowing I was going to be late for my 4th post-work evening meeting this week, I decided to walk away and let it be. I returned with an army of support this morning, a shop vac and towels. @cclaybaker leaving work to help me move the washer out to clean underneath it so it doesn’t lift the flooring, and @caroline.bogema who just really knew I needed the support, was willing to roll up her sleeves and get dirty (or clean, 🤔) alongside me. When I arrived, it had all dried. And, the consensus, clean up what I can around the edges so it’s not slippery, but leave it be. It will now be my unending supply of soap for mopping the floor in that area when I need it. And the whole room will inevitably smell fresh and clean for the remainder of my lease. Moral of the story, sometimes it’s best to just slow down and do nothing at all, and allow the process to unfold, not trying to control the situation. Special thanks to @lindamayhugh1 and Kelly Morse for witnessing my breakdown yesterday evening and loving me through it and getting me to laugh. Sometimes, arguably most times, vulnerability and willingness to be seen is the best medicine. Today is a new day. #slowdown #breathe #dontcryoverspilledmilk #cryoverspilleddetergent by @forrestingthesoul
Some researchers and experimenters have proposed that plants may respond to the people who care for them, even over surprising distances. Plants have complex electrical signaling systems, and listening to my @plantwave has given me a whole new appreciation for the journeys I’ve taken to the jungles and forests around the world, and even my front porch. They remind me to not get so caught up in the minute bullsh!t in life. Instead, they help me compost it, helping me ground and remember what is truly important - my own health and well-being. I, like many, forget this sometimes and allow other things to take precedence. I REALLY needed this connection this morning. 🙏🏼 @amyswallace and I are excited for our 6-week offering, beginning August 1. More details coming soon. Thank you, @kk_islandgrooves, for continuing to encourage us to visit the Azores! It was such a beautiful gift to get to witness your & Catarina’s special day. We had an incredible and adventurous time! Those islands have so much to offer for being out in the middle of the Atlantic. I’m so grateful for our time together and meeting new friends from around the world. I look forward to visiting again and staying longer! 😁🙏🏼🫶🏼✨🥂💚🥰☀️😍 #Azores #azoresislands #portugal #portugaltravel #wedding by @forrestingthesoul
Me, getting super excited to install my new Omni 360° face rest cradle and then seeing all the parts and pieces and tools and quickly realizing I don’t have time to do it before my first client! 😂 Stay tuned! I’m excited to see how this thing works especially for fascia release! 🤩🤔😁 #newtools #fasciarelease #bodywork #forrestingthesoul by @forrestingthesoul
Well, swimmer friends, I need your encouragement, tips and success stories. I decided to start swimming this week. Using a free week pass at Genesis to see if it’s “for” me. 😂 Today was day 2. Note to self: DO NOT drink cacao before swimming. 🤢 This is hands-down the most uncomfortable, awkward and humbling full-body workout I’ve ever experienced. And, on recommendation from another friend, I’m doing it in a full face snorkel mask so I can focus on my form and not feel like I am drowning! I’ll spare my ego and keep that photo for myself. 🤭 Today was a little easier than Monday. Hopefully Friday will bring more confidence. Nyah definitely did not get the swimming/comfortable in water/coordination gene from me. But, my resilience gene….that one…that’s the one that will hopefully carry me through this! 🤷🏻‍♀️🙃😅 Aging is weird. 😳 Knock, knock, knockin’ on 50’s door-or-or! Hey, hey….hey, hey yeah. I had the honor of witnessing this today. It sure was pretty awesome getting to see you in your boat again. Just like you never missed a stroke… You’re an inspiration, @cclaybaker. Hard to believe it was just over a year ago you had every bone in your left leg broken and poking out. Welcome back to the river! 🥹🙏🏼🚣🏻‍♂️✨💫💚😍 #whitewaterkayaking #dagger #motorcycleaccident #thriver by @forrestingthesoul
Even though my body is exhausted, my heart is so happy and full. Thank you to every person who has showed up to help me with this transition to a new location. 🙏🏼 From painting to trim work, to receiving and installing a washer/dryer combo (🥹🙏🏼), to receiving a can of paint and furniture pieces I was needing, to hanging the long black velvet curtains, and to FINALLY getting the rest of my Peruvian Visual Art framed from my trip in December, with the gifted wood pieces. 🥰🤩🌎🇵🇪🎨 You know who you are and you know you are making an impact on me and everyone else who will share in the love and community being offered at ForResting the Soul, and in the Aware Wolf Den. I love you and I’m so incredibly grateful for you and your belief in me and my vision. 🥰😍✨🌱🐺 I will officially be relocating the rest of my practice by the end of the week. Thank you for your patience with getting on my schedule as I’ve desperately needed to feel settled before I can look any further down the road. It’s been a wild ride this year and I’m thrilled for the new spot on the map. 🗺️ 🎯 Thank you to Tara Rigger for giving me a solid place to land, figure out who I am and where I’m going and then decide to go there. I love you. 💚🫶🏼💫 by @forrestingthesoul
